College football is better and more competitive than it ever has been.
It's more competitive because the players only get up for the big games and half arse it against the underdogs. Also as soon as a team gets a lead, they proceed to mug for the cameras on the sideline rather than focus on putting a team away. The coaches have no control any longer.

Maryville College @ Berry College in the D3 playoffs this weekend.
Berry has won 7 consecutive games vs. Maryville.

I hope they do cap this damn thing! It is coming 100%.
Lot of folks seem to think A&M is spending mad cash. Many other SEC schools have spent far, far more. Elko has been very judicial in the players he takes and the NIL money they spend. They probably spend more along the SEC average.
Ole Miss and Texas certainly spend more. Hell Florida, Georgia, Missouri and others may also spend more.
Aggie are not worried whatsoever about that. I cap is a very good thing. We welcome it so we can spend all the extra cash on updating our facilities. This will give A&M the big advantage along with other cash rich schools like Texas and OSU.
So you are actually totally wrong in your thinking. Non-cap keeps the rich schools from investing as much in facilities. Once the cap is in place, they have a lot more extra cash to produce the best facilities in the country.
Chew on that.
So completely disagree.
NIL is the reason this season has been one of the best college football seasons EVER!! Except for Bama and GA fans.
You actually think Missouri is spending more than A$M?
I've some stupid shite on this board but that really tops it. If Mizzou spent half what A$M does, I would be shocked.

Oh wait there is. It's Division II and III, but not many people care about it because it's not very high level of talent.
Fans expect too much from college football players and it ultimately broke the game.
They want…
1. Players who are legitimate college students and value education, even though they are signed for their athletic ability.
2. Players who have NFL caliber talent and can produce an exciting, high level game.
3. Players who have unwavering loyalty even though they might have been raised 2-3 time zones away from the school that signed them.
4. Players who are content with a scholarship even though their coaches and programs are making millions and the fans are receiving substantial entertainment.
5. Players who just love the game so much even though there’s a lot that goes into it that no one loves. The average American can’t get off the couch long enough to beat obesity and these guys are supposed to just love workouts fit for world class athletes and all the pain and discomfort of 90 degree weather, 10 degree weather, and countless painful collisions.

NIL and portal is the worst thing to happen to the SEC. They tried to sell this shite as the "rich get richer" - frick that. Impossible to build depth because every 4*+ guy or 3* who developed for a couple years will transfer to some shite school to get immediate playing time. Even the sisters of the poor are paying NIL deals to kids. All the while expected to play more games in a season with less depth.
And in a NIL arms race we are going to have schools like SMU, UM etc lining up the brinks to get croots they never would have had a chance with before. Long term this is going to be a issue. Unless your school has crazy rich alumni, its going to be hard to commit to paying $20m+ a year in NIL every year on top of usual donations to the AD to fund facility upgrades.

I would watch if it was on TV. Last Saturday I found myself watching Ivy League football until the Alabama-Mercer game started.

Same.
I'm really close to taking the $5k I pay for LSU season tickets and go sit on my couch to watch.
And... Even if I was wealthy, I wouldn't contribute to pay a kid 10 million. That's ridiculous.

Post of the millennium … but you forgot fans’ expectations that since “they pay the bills,” they should be considered the most important factor in this equation.

Our football program had been dead for nearly a decade now, depending on who you ask

LOL! Your program has been paying recruits for 40+ years.

Kentucky is actually a worse loss than Vandy this season.
Vandy would boat race Florida by 2-3 TDs that’s how bad Florida is

I’d love to head down to our field and watch a bunch of Bama students go up against a bunch of Auburn or LSU students. Just a bunch of guys that care and are FANS of their school. NIL has made me tired after less than half a decade. I’m to the point where I’d enjoy a day watching club football at the rec fields over these entitled millionaires. Then go talk shite over wings at Baumhowers. Whatever.
I’ll keep watching, and hope Bama pulls something out of this 12 team system. But CFB is dying a painful death, and it’s going to get uglier.
Schools that were deep in the bag game -- where you could buy elite players for $25k to $200k -- but don't have real money really hate NIL .

A lot of LSU fans are melting down over NIL because of Bryce Underwood. Bryce Underwood doesn’t impact my passion right now—my team has bigger issues—but I can see how others might lose interest. I’m not there yet, but I get it.
If I wanted to watch mercenaries dominate, I’d stick to the NFL. At least it has a salary cap, binding contracts, and players with experience in meaningful games.
I understand why NIL happened and that it’s here to stay, but years from now, we’ll look back at this era as chaotic and unsustainable. This can’t last as it is. Like the NFL, having huge salaries doesn’t guarantee shite. The difference is in college those salaries are coming from fans and supporters of the school. How much longer will they do that?
What if Bryce Underwood came to LSU and sucked? Those rich guys are going to think twice before investing that much money into a 17 year old ever again. Not sustainable.

No way we’ve lost to Vandy 20 times.
