On the SEC Championship Game and the injuries that can come with it:
"For me, this is a personal thing, it was really important for me. And I know we fell a little short in that conference championship, but it was important for me being my first SEC championship opportunity, having only been in the league going on the second year at the time.

That’s putting it mildly….

I'm still shocked that they gave him a raise and extension after losing four games.

He could've left for as much or more somewhere else.
One of their lead writers on either 247 or On3 basically said that the alternative was likely letting him go somewhere else for more money and then not hiring anywhere near as big of a name to replace him.

getting beat by 3 TDs is falling a little short?

Eh, he had 6 years remaining on his contract. Let him walk if that's not good enough for him.
He's likely taking a step down job wise if he leaves and has lost 8 games in 2 seasons. That isn't bad, but it also isn't good when you look at what he inherited.

Georgia fans have fans have to hope Kirby doesn’t fall to 1-3 against him once the season starts.

Alternative: He goes up north somewhere and does as well as he did at Washington.
You hire some assistant or G5 up and comer and go back to the early 2000s Franchione/Shula Bama. How does that look?
The bottom line is that admin felt that was more likely to happen than hitting a homer hire if they let him go.

That'd be kind of an indictment on Alabama, really.

I mean they're locked into him long term now and he's already lost 8 games despite inheriting a semifinal team. That's still possible and they're stuck with him.

I'm sure Kirby has way more important things on his mind than Kalen Dubose seeing as he hasn't won a playoff game in years

It's weird to me that you guys are acting as if everyone is happy and fully behind DeBoer. Pretty obvious that's not the case on your own boards and highly unlikely every big donor is fully supportive.

Kirby has the SEC titles saving him while having a losing record against Kalen DuBose and back to back one and dones.
The back to back titles give him a pass but the lack of playoff results - they’ll become a problem for bowl cut if he fails again this year.

They should be, they should make DeBoer Bama coach for life

Deboer has been a P4 coach 4 seasons. He has made his conference championship game and the college play offs twice each.
There are lots of coaches in the SEC who have never played in one P4 championship games. I believe only three current coaches have appeared in multiple games.

The Pac12 isn't P4.

Say what you will, he's still viewed as one of the top coaches in the country. The Bama writer, chatting with his subs over there, basically went through the names of those that might be better than him right now, and it's unlikely any would leave where they are at for Tuscaloosa.
Kirby? No.
Lanning? No.
Sark? No.
Day? No.
Cignetti? No.
Christobal? No.
