Oklahoma fans are cool. Amount the best I've been around. You'll have a great time with these folks. They have great respect for the Alabama program and we for theirs. They should be fine.

Had nothing but a good time drankin' and tailgatin' with the Bammers when they came to Norman. Great folks. Impressive traveling cavalcade of RVs. They were arriving on TUESDAY the week of the game.

Only team that ever "dominated" us in a BCS title game was USC. Stop talking aggot.

The "greatest offense of all time" in 09 got held to 14 by an average SEC defense.

ou fans & their program are fairly insecure for some reason ... they have an outstanding history and are probably in the argument with bama and the dame for most historical program ...

that said, i hope georgia beats their arse ...

OU is a top 5 all time no doubt, but the past 15? I'm not sure the longest they've gone without a national title is, but I know that they have got to be approaching it. The SEC thing hurts them because they were the repeated victim of SEC dominance in the BCS Title Game, and it's been the reason they haven't been dominant like they once were. How many different SEC team have won a National Title more recently than OU? How many different SEC teams have won two National Titles more recently than OU?

eh, their past 15 doesn't limit their achievements ... i'm biased for bama and generally have thought over my lifetime the dame was #2 and ou was #3, with osu having a say in the mix ... they've had 2 very successful periods of winning titles and 1 successful period ... stoops lost that 'big game' mantra over the past 5 years or so, and seemed to think beating bama was the biggest achievement of his life ... great coach, but puzzled why he thought beating an sec team was some barometer for his program ...

I mean the ultimate barometer is National Titles. Since Barry Switzer left Norman almost 30 years ago, OU has won one National Title. Less than Miami, Florida State, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Nebraska, and Ohio State. If Clemson wins it all this year, you can add them to that list as well. If OU wins it all, then they'll be in that elite group, but until they get two, I'm not sure if you can put them there. Of the 10 or so teams that have won one National Title in the past 30 seasons, they have a strong argument for the best of that group, however.

Certainly more discussion here about OU than on Landthieves about SEC

I've been there today, and I can say that's a lie. They beat their chest about beating Tennessee and a bad Auburn team

It's a weird thing. They would actually be the most likely of anything left in the BDF to make a case for being in the SEC. Not a big market, but they do draw eyeballs and do have on-field success.

Texas leads the overall series, but that is deceiving. OU has a far more accomplished history. They have 7 legit Natty's, 5 Stiff Arms, and plenty of other hardware.

Crazy thing is, though, in all of the discussions I have seen, their administration goes out of their way to not tick off Texas. Can't find the link, but at one point somewhere around 2011, either the president or the AD all but said they would do whatever Texas decided to do (stay or go). I swear, it's like they are just fine with being the whorns' gimp.

If you asked any Sooner this off-season about the best win they've had under Baker, they usually said Auburn. When I remind them A&M beat that same team, just as badly, they get perplexed and quiet. The Big 12 is soooo bad that an 8-5 Auburn team is their biggest accomplishment. Think about that. Their SEC inferiority complex is so great that they actually walked around for months thumping their chests over that one.

While the loss to Iowa State was a shocker at the time, the Cyclones finished the regular season with a respectable 7-5 record.

7-5 in the Big 12 is basically 11-1 in the SEC. Good point.

Mainly, they are insanely insecure about the SEC. If you run in to any OU fans ask how many more losses Baker would have if they were in the SEC West instead of the Big 12 the past 3 seasons. It will trigger them. They are so insecure they can't admit any short comings, ESPECIALLY about ones involving the Big 12/SEC.

This is one of the truest things I have seen on this board.

Just want to point out a few things. Take them for what you will.

Anyone who says Alabama didn't want to win the Sugar Bowl didn't watch the game. For some reason, people like to minimize that win against a team many thought should be playing for the NC. And honestly, that wasn't a very good OU team. They didn't have a QB and were blown out by Baylor. Luckily Trevor Knight played out of his mind, but a mediocre OU team beat a really good Bama team.

Someone mentioned "the greatest offense of all time" being held to 14 points against FLA. Demarco Murray didn't play that game due to injury. Understandably, OU was inside the 5 twice and couldn't punch it in without their star RB. Also, Percy Harvin didn't have a migraine in the 2nd half and went crazy. It happens.

I also don't think anyone saying we got dominated by Clemson in the Orange Bowl watched the game. OU led 17-16 at half time. Unfortunately, Mixon was out and then lost Perine for most of the 2nd half. Hard to beat a really good Clemson team (that took Bama to the wire) without your two NFL backs.

Lastly, LSU. Jason White, the perpetually injured QB with two knee braces, played most of the game pretty seriously injured. I yelled at my TV the entire time for him to get out of the game, but he refused and played a terrible game. Still only lost by 7.

TL;DR
OU still lost and you can gloat and talk shite about it. But I think context is kind of important. OU has shite luck in big games. See: Rodney Anderson.
