re: Rose bowl ticket breakdown
Posted by Boomer2797 on 12/29/17 at 11:38 am
Based on how close the two reds are, I'm not sure you'll be able to visually tell anyway. You'll only be able to hear it.
When I looked, there were more tickets available on UGA's side of the field, but that doesn't really mean anything. There are probably more OU fans in CA thanks to the whole Grapes of Wrath migration, though.
It'll be interesting to see the turnout. That place is going to be rocking.

Relax man, it's just a game. Just enjoy the fact that your team is in the playoffs. Worrying isn't going to help anything. Your team earned its spot and deserves to be there.
Losing sucks, especially in the postseason, but it's not worth the stress your putting yourself through. It's going to be okay.

Is it? We play 1 maybe 2 SEC teams the next two weeks. I don't think it's strange that SEC fans are on OU message boards.

These don't quite match the prestige of the Camping World Bowl which the second best Big XII team goes to.
Interesting, I thought the 2nd best team went to the Alamo Bowl.
Big 10 tied the SEC on NY6 appearances. SEC wins the tie-breaker for having 2 of those teams in the CFP. Beat your chest about that.
Bragging about having a lot of bowl games on Jan 1 is just strange.

Second time I've seen this mentioned. Why are SEC fans so proud of the Outback, Peach, and Citrus bowls just because they fall on Jan 1? The Fiesta and Orange bowls fall on New Year's Eve and neither feature an SEC team. Neither does the Cotton Bowl on Dec 29.
Two SEC teams in the playoff is impressive, but after that you're kind of reaching.

I can't tell if this is a terrible troll post or a godly one.

More importantly, he's not on the team anymore... He's in the NFL.
Anderson was cleared of all charges. Can't believe it's still being brought up.
I also expect everyone to say Baker Mayfield, because trash talk from a football player is very, very offensive.

And people people try to debate whether the sec is the best conference in football
You realize two of the teams in the playoff are in the SEC and the other is from South Carolina. That's going to skew the recruiting to the southeast.

Alabama recruits more nationally than Oklahoma.
To be fair, he didn't compare OU to Alabama or anyone else. OU just recruits its state the least of all the other teams. I think that's more what he meant to say.

Baker isn't bigger or stronger than Roquan. That's idiotic. I'm not sure why he needs to be, though. If Roquan touches Baker, he likely tackles him. Baker isn't going to be trying to run through him.

Seriously? Per your links, Manziel's Freshman numbers vs SEC defenses were comparable to Baker's JR year vs Big12 defenses.
As a 5th year SR, Mayfield put up 200 more yards and 4 more TDs than a Sophomore Manziel.
Those numbers don't suggest that Baker is clearly a superior QB, imo. He's a helluva competitor. I don't want to sound like a Baker basher.
The key stats you should be looking at are YPA, TD/Int ratio and QB rating. If yardage was all that mattered, TT would have the best QB's every year. Johnny threw the ball 60 more times a year than Baker, of course he's going to have more yards.

We all know why the Sooner doesn't want to discuss Manziel's running ability.
OU was used to playing in BCS games. They weren't interested in playing an ex-Big 12 whipping boy. ATM had all the motivation.
I know that's a valid excuse because I've read it on this board quite a few times. :rotflmao:

I thought we were talking about QBs? So you admit that Baker is more comparable to Drew Brees than Manziel? Thanks.
You also didn't include Completion %, Interceptions or QB Rating. And you're including a bowl game for Manziel, Baker hasn't played his yet.
I understand that in the SEC QB's don't throw the ball and that they're more valuable as an extra running back, but that's not really how anyone else evaluates QBs. You may have noticed that Manziel didn't do shite in the NFL. Sam Bradford has had a better career.
Manziel was a great college player, but as a quarterback, he can't be compared to Baker. The fact that you have to include rushing yards for it to even be close is hilarious.

Care to expound? The yearly numbers favor Manziel
No they don't. Unless you're including his partial year at Tech.
There's not a single statistical passing category where Manziel was better. He ran more, I'll give you that, but Baker isn't a running QB. He rarely tries to run upfield, so not really comparable. As a passer, it's not even close, tbh.

Oklahoma at 12% ties us with 2nd place Kentucky. Missouri showing they don't belong in the SEC.

I’m not sure that just pointing out the team’s downward spiral and deer in the headlight’s performance against auburn is anything more than just pointing out facts. I guess there have been all sorts of teams that played crappy the last quarter of the season, got manhandled by their archrival and then magically turned it around in the playoffs. Please feel free to list below:
You might take a look at Clemson last year. Close game against Troy, close game against a bad Auburn team, OT with NC State, and lost to Pitt.
Does that make you feel better?

When we want a sack we blitz our Butkus award winning LB in the A gap. It works often. The edge rushers are told to prioritize keeping the qb in the pocket over your traditional "rush." This leads to less sacks but a lot less big plays on broken plays by the qb escaping the pocket. To beat UGA your QB has to do it from his spot in the pocket for the most part and from what I understand that isn't Bakers game. Should be interesting
Wait. Your plan is to keep the most efficient QB on record in the pocket and not sack him?
That's genius.

I know. Early in the year when they hadn't found their offense. Not sure why you mentioned it though. He said 1 win Kansas averaged 35 points per game. I just said he was probably thinking of K-State, who went 7-5.

Oklahoma plays big 12 defenses. Chubb would've been a Heisman contender playing big 12 defenses for 4 years.....he'd have surpassed walker in yards gained. Look at the scores in big 12 games compared to the records and f the losers in those games......teams lik Kansas score 35 points a game and have seasons where they win 1-2 games. Defense is less important in the big 12 than marching bands. We have 5 5-6 minute drives that end in points of some kind and force OU to punt 5 times we win, period.
You're getting Kansas and K-State confused. Kansas averages 18.7 ppg (just behind Tenn). KSU averages 32.1 ppg.

OU is terrible at punt coverage (granted on only 7 punt returns all year) allowing 15 yards a return. KO coverage isn’t great either. I posted something similar about AU before the SEC championship. This could be the difference making part of the game
This is true on both accounts. However, we've only allowed 19 KO returns this year out of 99 KOs. I'd also bet several of those returns happened on a windy day at KU. UGA won't get many chances to have a big return.
