I am an Aggy, but unfortunately I am a first generation Aggy. My entire family lived in Oklahoma for the first 15 years of my life. One uncle is one of the greatest OU football players ever at his position with two All-Americans and two nattys. I think I have a unique perspective to provide you Georgia folks.

Mainly, they are insanely insecure about the SEC. If you run in to any OU fans ask how many more losses Baker would have if they were in the SEC West instead of the Big 12 the past 3 seasons. It will trigger them. They are so insecure they can't admit any short comings, ESPECIALLY about ones involving the Big 12/SEC. It's a lot of the Bluegrass Miracle Phenomenon.

Let me explain. I'm going to take you in a way back machine all the way to the 2012. OU had just won its 8th Big 12 Title and found itself in the Cotton Bowl against A&M. Before Stoops arrived in Norman, OU had an all time losing record against the A&M. In fact, in John Blake's 3 years OU lost to A&M 33-16, 51-7, and finally 29-0, securing his fate, and allowing for Stoops to enter the fold. When that happened, OU started beating A&M like a rented mule.

Of the 31 games OU and A&M had played against each other, I don't think I've seen OU and A&M play a more meaningful one. A&M had a Heisman, beat Bama, had their first 10 win season in 15 years, and was looking to exercise the past 15 years of futility against OU. OU was looking to stem the tide from A&M, a program whose perpetual mediocrity was especially advantageous. And why wouldn't OU expect a win? OU always beat A&M! A&M was only the third best team in their division! OU are Big 12 Champs! Outside of Bama, the SEC is garbage! The Big 12 is the best top to bottom league in the country! Surely the Big 12 Champs would destroy the 5th best team in the overrated SEC!

Except they didn't. JFF arse fricked them.

AS A&M fans started chanting, "SEC-SEC-SEC" inside Jerry World, as JFF put on the greatest Cotton Bowl performance in history, the anti-SEC drum started getting beat the hardest in Norman.

In 2013, while OU was never ranked inside the top 10, they were never ranked outside of the top 25. After finishing 2nd the Big 12, OU found themselves in the Sugar Bowl against the mighty SEC. Led by Trevor Knight, the Oklahoma Sooners upset Saban! Can you believe it? Make no mind that Bama was reeling from Kick Six, threepeat aspirations lost, half their team was looking ahead to the NFL Draft... It's the SEC! See! The SEC is overrated!

Then 2014 happened. Preseason number 4, OU fans just knew that they were going to win the first ever college football playoff. Not only did they prove that they were better than Bama, but they beat Butch Jones and unranked Tennessee! Nothing proves you're a great team like beating Butch Jones and an unranked Tennessee!

But... They lost to TCU, then K-State, and Baylor. Trevor Knight proved that his Sugar Bowl was a fluke, and beating Butch Jones and an unranked Tennessee proved to be as impressive as beating Kansas. Unranked and at 8-4, OU found themselves in the Russell Athletic Bowl against Clemson. They lost 40-6.

This is when you started to see a bit of awareness from the OU fan base. The Big 12 had been left out of the playoff. David Boren, to his credit, was getting restless. The last round of realignment saw not only Nebraska leave, but A&M greatly increase its profile in the region. And not just in football. OU's incoming admissions were suffering. A&M accepted 1,000 more freshmen than they wanted to because of JFF and the SEC. Make no mistake, that directly impacted Oklahoma who feasts of DFW kids. On top of that OU had a bit of egg on its face from the last round of realignment when they tried to go to the Pac-12 and got rebuked. OU believed, and rightfully so, that the Big 12 was damaging their brand. Every other P5 conference was pulling in 5 or 6 top 25 recruiting classes. In the Big 12, it was only 2 schools, and the rest weren't cracking the top 35. OU, to its credit, has never been afraid to schedule tough out of conference and still had something to look forward to in the Big 12. 5 seasons ago they were playing in CS and in Lincoln in front of 85,000+. Now? All they had to look forward to was traveling to Aimes, Lubbock, Waco, Lawrence, Manhattan and Stillwater in front of 30,000. Problems were rising on multiple fronts. It was the loudest clamoring for Stoops to leave I'd ever seen from the rational side of their fan base. They couldn't recruit big physical defensive players anymore because of the style of play. They had a great offense, but one slip up and what did it matter? Even if they got to the dance, they weren't capable.

But hope springs eternal, just like every off-season, and the 2015 was a little different. A walk-on transfer from Texas Tech was making noise in practice. They decided to give him the starting job and after a double OT win against the mighty Butch Jones and Tennessee, it looked like it was the right call. Then they lost to Charlie Strong. OU, who was once one of the best programs who could compete against anyone... was absolutely terrible in the trenches, and it didn't look like it was getting better any time soon with the 3-star army of lineman they had in the pipeline. The calls for firing Stoops were back.

The rest of the season became a perfect case study for the Bluegrass Miracle Phenomenon. OU wasn't a good team. They had a good Big 12 offense, but overall were just as incapable of winning a National Title as they were after Clemson destroyed them in the Russell Athletic Bowl a year ago. However, they went on to play the rest of their laughably weak Big 12 schedule. Their defense was porous, their wins were against terrible teams, but they made it to the Playoff! Rejoice! All the chronic issues the fan base knew there magically went away! Until Clemson absolutely rocked them for the second time in as many seasons in exactly the same fashion.

In 2016 the cycle repeated itself. Losing to Houston and Ohio State, but cake walking through a laughably bad Big 12. Finding themselves in the Sugar Bowl against an 8-4 Auburn team, that was so bad, Kevin Sumlin and A&M destroyed them earlier in the season. Auburn was in disarray, on some shitty QB, but for OU and their fans the cognitive dissonance kicked on. It's and SEC team!

So how does this season end, Georgia fans? OU's defense is ranked in the 60s, they lost a 7-5 Iowa State team, but steam rolled the rest of the Big 12 and find themselves back in the Playoff.

All this being said, I don't know if Georgia beats OU. I think Baker is the best player in football since JFF and he is capable of upsetting a much better team by himself. If you do win, Georgia fans, please chant, "SEC-SEC-SEC" as loud as possible. The butthurt will be legendary.

5 years later OU is in the playoffs for the 2nd time and A&M has won more than 8 games exactly once

They were in the playoff in 2015 as well. Whoop dee fricking do. Are LSU fans so distraught over Jimbo going to A&M they are trying to gloat about the participation trophy of others? This is amazing.

Upvoted simply for the number of words. That type of passion for a game your team is not involved in should be rewarded.

I mean, I didn’t read any of the words. But the sheer number of them is impressive.

I hope you wrote some amazing shite and trust that you did.

We always give folks flack for posting long posts, but I can give a poster credit for including illustrations to go along with it.

Also, I would personally enjoy watching Baker Mayfield’s arse get clobbered by the dawgs. There’s something so annoyingly pretentious about him. And if OU somehow beats UGA, I hope Bama can win out and beat that Sooner arse.

Dude you must be really obsessed with OU. I didn’t bother reading 90% of your rant but congrats on having 2 hours to spend on it. Also glad your SEC brethren enjoy bashing OU and it’s fans. Certainly more discussion here about OU than on Landthieves about SEC.
