Losing seasons since Bianco:
Ole Miss: ZERO overall, 4 SEC
LSU: ZERO overall, 4 SEC
MSU: Four overall, 9 SEC
Arkansas:Three overall, 7 SEC

Who really cares about that? Below is what Ole Miss fans care about since Bianco started in 2000...

LSU: 8 CWS, 2 Titles, 3 Championship Series
Arkansas: 6 CWS, 0 Titles, 1 Championship Series
Miss State: 5 CWS, 1 Title, 2 Championship Series
aTm: 2 CWS
Auburn: 1 CWS
Ole Miss: 1 CWS

This doesnt even include the entire SEC and the CWS and titles won by Vandy, South Carolina, and Florida or their championship series appearances.

On a league wide scale, Ole Miss ranks below at least 7-8 other league programs in terms of post season success under Bianco. They put way too much money into their program to be middle of the pack.

Bianco is a really tough call. Has been incredibly consistent in fielding really good baseball teams, but the post-season record is hard to look past. All I can say is when he was rumored to be a candidate for the LSU job, I was really hoping that wouldn’t happen.

I agree, but LOOK where Ole Miss was at before him compared to other schools in the previous 21 years.

LSU: 9 CWS 4 titles
Arkansas: 3 CWS
Miss State: 4 CWS
A&M: 2 CWS
Auburn: 2 CWS
Ole Miss: ZERO CWS

Ole Miss never made it to the CWS in my lifetime prior to Bianco. Other programs have been going to the CWS prior to Bianco. LSU/MSU are national powerhouses in baseball... and I would argue that everyone has invested more into their baseball program besides Auburn.

The way Ole Miss fans defend Bianco is similar to how Aggies defended Childress. They went about it different ways but their results were fairly similar. It’s hard to move on from a good coach. I’d argue Bianco is a top 15 coach. To move on you have to take a leap of faith that you can pull someone better. There is a decent chance you don’t. In A&M’s case, it took a pretty monster hire to feel like an upgrade without having to do mental gymnastics to believe. The question is, can Ole Miss do the same. Based on their support (fans, financially, etc), I would say yes.

Your post is proving the point. They’ve had a guy for 22 years and have 1 more CWS to show for that time than prior. The percentages tell us, if he is there 30 seasons they’ll still only have the 1 CWS appearance. It’s why LSU didn’t hire Bianco.

It’s a “poor ole me” attitude that holds programs back from taking the next step.

If they’re satisfied with 1 CWS in 22 seasons, more power to them. They’re not though and the fan base has expressed as much on here.

I don't disagree. Ole Miss is not a TOP 15 baseball program...but they have a top 15 coach.

1 CWS is better than nothing in my lifetime.

Expectations are lower at Ole Miss for baseball. I get this, but I think people put 'Title or bust'. They have not had the sucess the other SEC programs have...and this is considered success to them. Going to the tournament all the time, winning the regional half the time...

I say all of this and it will take 1 bad season and he is gone..Do you expect their expectations are that much different than basketball.

Arkansas pitching is arse?

Are you sure about that?

Arkansas has better pitching depth this year than last year. But the pitching was so much arse last year that they won the SEC and tournament titles.

I'm surprised this is the first time Texas has ever been ranked #1 in a preseason baseball poll.

Expectations at Ole Miss are no longer low. We have as much talent as anyone and have for some time now. Expectations should not be title or bust, but if Bianco could escape the supers from time to time, he would not be on the hot seat. It doesn't help State makes it to Omaha all the time, even though they've cycled through coaches lately.

Another thing that's frustrating is the 2018 team. We were red hot and won the SEC tournament only to flop out of our own regional as the #4 overall seed. The end to that season left a sour taste in many mouths.

Just D1Baseball's poll. As far as I can remember, Texas was ranked No. 1 in 2005, 2006 and 2010. But that was through various other polls, most notably NCBWA.

Don't think D1Baseball has been in business for a great deal of time. Probably 10-12 years or so, but I'm honestly not sure.

I think we (Msu) might be a little high. We have a ton of talent but you don't lose Tanner Allen, Rowdy Jordan and Will Bednar and be anywhere near as good.

I think Arkansas is a clear favorite in the SEC this year and Ole Miss has a chance to field their best team in school history in my opinion. The conference is going to be absolutely brutal.

I'm not sure the SEC is truly prepared for Coach Mingione's ragtag roster of JUCO and D2 All Stars.

We are going to be hot fricking garbage and I'm still going to spend my hard earned money going to the ballpark anyway because it's baseball damnit and God bless baseball.

Bianco is an excellent program builder with some questionable coaching tendencies, situationally speaking. He took full advantage of State falling apart in the 2000's and built Ole Miss into a very good program. But then State got its act together, and then some, and I think that has done more than anything else to ramp up the pressure on Bianco.

I can't really explain the postseason woes. He should absolutely have more than one Omaha trip to this point. But the fact that has teams have always been competitive in the league and never bottomed out is a huge compliment to him.

I think they are a legit SEC title contender this year if they just have decent pitching. But it's incredibly hard to trust that program once the calendar flips to June.

I think State will be fine on Friday nights with Sims, the other roles are iffy at the moment. Lots of pitching talent and potential but need some guys to take a step forward this year.

Offensively I think you may see a lower batting average and more strikeouts but this team has a chance to hit a ton of home runs. The projected lineup reminds me a bit of what Arkansas had last year, the numbers may not blow you away but there are guys all throughout the order that can really hurt you.
