Were yall supposed to ve good this year?

I know yall have some players on the d line but I don't see thr talent.

How has Arnett recruited?

Jury is out on the recruiting. This is his first year to do that. He kept the recruits together last year but Leach's passing was so close to signing day and all the spots were taken, keeping them will be the trick through off season and this next year.

So, recruiting? We don't know but:

The current team returns almost everyone from a 9 win team last year. 20 of 22 starters are either seniors or super covid seniors.

This was going to be the Leach had a veteran team to see what he could do. No national title runs but surely a better showing than 95th in def and 99th in offense through 3 games.

LOL.

Kelly is Miles 2.0 but without a national title. He’ll have you in the Top 15 but he’s not going to be special.

I have been on the Kelly bandwagon due to his success at ND where there are legit obstacles in the way of being succesful.....but Marcus Freeman is kind of quietly making Kelly's ND tenure appear average. If the Irish beat Ohio State this weekend (doubtful but it could happen) the luster of Kelly's time in South Bend may be even more suspect...

That's a good point as well. I think he would have to go 4-8 to really begin considering letting him go. Do you think if he were to go 5-7 and not win Egg Bowl, would that be enough to keep him?

5-7 with an Egg Bowl loss would depend on how bad the Egg Bowl loss was. If it’s a Sly Croom 2008 situation then heck yeah Arnett could get the boot. I firmly believe Croom was going to get another year until Ole Miss beat him 45-0. State fans take that game extremely seriously (arguably too much so). There were a not small amount of people that were ready to run Leach off if he had lost in Oxford last year, even though State would’ve still just been 7-5. Leach losing his first two EB’s reeeeallly bothered people, if it had gone to three then the situation could’ve been tense before he passed away.

When Leach was 5-1 last year and just beat the brakes off a and m and Arkansas, the jeanspage cult had weekly polls on “if Leach loses this week does he get fired”, true story.

Sometimes you get what you asked for

Not a funding chance. Bama isn't LSU. They won't have 3 consecutive coaches, 2 of which were 90 IQs, that can win a championship. The state of Alabama doesn't have that level of talent like Louisiana.

You're right. I just wish Alabama could have half the historical success LSU has had.

1. MSU - Arnett is not the guy.

Not after 1 year.

4. A&M - Even Aggies won’t take failure forever.

except for their entire existence.

5. Arkansas - If Hogs stumble, fans get restless.

He's shown to be a good leader when he hires correctly. He needs better coaching.

1. Miss State (Arnett is not a P5 coach)
2. Arkansas (Arkansas fans are done with the fat man)
3. Florida (win over Tenn may have bought Billy Boy another year unless they stumble some more)
4. A&M (Buyout still too large unless they miss a bowl game again, and even then I doubt it)

Everyone else is staying put.

Technically correct, but Kelly has never had a team actually compete for the title

I think State fans liked Leach but HATED the Air Raid. They wanted Leach’s personality but Dan Mullen’s offense.

You had that level of success because you have had the 2 greatest coaches to ever do it. Don't pretend anything else is different from the other SEC powers.

Jimbo staying for at least 2 more years unless we have a losing season.

Unfortunately even another losing season is not guarantee he will be gone. It will take a steep drop off in recruiting combined with a losing season.

He replaced Odom and Briles, lost to BYU.

OC Enos brought an offense that isn't suited for these players. Not a problem you need in your fourth year.

When Briles left, Sam should have hired an OC similar to Briles

Sam had no prior head coaching experience and it is showing in this year and last year.

He should be given the option to retire but the Arkansas brass are too scared to do it and he will be given another year when he doesn't deserve it.

Leach was treated horribly at State , no sense making excuses. not all the fans, but the jeanspage cult still hates him and bashes him to this day.

am curious why dawg fans think this

Because the days of long term builds are over. Beamer is an all emotion coach, he gets too high and he gets too low. The team follows this lead. He will absolutely win games he shouldn’t. But he will lose more games he should win. Top players will transfer out when you are losing 4-5 games a year.
