MSU isn't firing a guy after one year. Even Arkansas gave the previous guy a second year and he looked way more in over his head than Arnett does.

The difference here is Arnett didn't inherit a terrible team. Also it was an emotional/desperation hire w/o any real search d/t circumstances. If he goes 0-fer, which if he loses this Saturday he very well might, I see MSU thanking him for getting State through a rough time and moving on.

Were yall supposed to ve good this year? I know yall have some players on the d line but I don't see thr talent.

We have a senior 4th year starter at QB, senior RB, couple senior WRs, and 5 senior OL from a 9-4 team last season.

So yea on paper any less than 8-4 would be a pretty big failure

A&M just might pay that buyout if it all goes down in flames. And it is only 70M

Also notable that the current AD didn’t hire him. Arnett was hired by the president and interim AD in December, a day or two after Leach died. Selmon didn’t get hired as AD until January. So he has no attachment to the hiring of Arnett. It’s his show now and he may want to do his own thing.

Saban could retire after this season but I imagine he can’t live with himself going out like this.

The problem with continuing on is it’s not 2012 anymore where NIL and the portal didn’t exist. Each season it’s going to be harder to recruit and retain players, especially with him getting older.

Arnett gets at least one more year.

Stupid to think Saban will be pushed out.

Where is Kiffin gonna go?

Jimbo price is still too big to pay. Needs a few more years.

Pittboss has another year unless they don't make a bowl.

Drink, if they fall big time. But will probably be his best season.

Lea will get another year, but they were thinking bowl this year and it doesn't look like that will happen.

Slingblade is safe.

Stoops is fine. Will take a bigger school with a better offer.

Beamer could be on the hot seat for next year quickly. But not this year.

Freeze ain't nowhere near hot.

Heupel should probably be further up the list, but he's nowhere near getting fired.

LSU- I can see them getting restless if he were to lose the West this year.

Georgia- man will never be fired unless he does something stupid.

Id say that Heupal, Saban, Kelly, Kiffin are safe from their schools firing them, but arent safe from being stolen away (or retiring). I don't see it happening, but if it did its those guys.

Stoops, Drink, Beamer, are safe from getting fired but also arent going to be contacted by other schools for jobs.

The rest I can't really speak on.

* no matter the results this year, Beamer isnt close to the hot seat. we here all see the recruiting, and how he is addressing the depth issues.

I am curious why dawg fans think this? Your DC left us in a realllly bad spot. We have 2 5 stars committed, one for the Oline, with another target on the board. SC has to realize its a much longer build than UGA is. Keep the momentum.

History tells us there will be 2-3 new coaches next season. Tough to spot them right now.

If Saban retires, Kiffin would definitely be on the move if Bama wants him

That's a good point as well. I think he would have to go 4-8 to really begin considering letting him go. Do you think if he were to go 5-7 and not win Egg Bowl, would that be enough to keep him?

some realistic posts by State fans here, but I tried to warn you before the season.

Arnett sealed his fate by firing Leachs entire staff, that was obvious. yes he has an ego problem and manure for brains.

Ole Miss will donate Millions to States NIL fund if they will give Arnett an extension

I see the jeanspage cult still has some dead enders claiming “leach sucked”

Miss State has 8 home games, Leach would have won 10 with this team. Retaining his staff would have won 8 if Arnett just coaches the defense and leaves the offense alone.

but he knows better than HOF coach Leach
