It's always weird to see a public figure take an actual position on something. Cancel culture is so fricked

He is a bit of a RINO, but I guess he is better than the rest of the sniveling little corrupt wonks. UF has one of the largest Jewish student populations in the country, so I am sure many of them appreciate this, but laughably some probably do not.

Bravo. Kudos. Hear hear!

I approve that the target of his statement is Hamas, not Palestinians or Muslims in general.
My only issue with Israel is that when they get hit by a terrorist group, their response often ends up killing a whole boatload of civilians.
The best comparison I have is what Britain dealt with when the IRA was bombing things and there was effectively an IRA party in Ireland/Northern Ireland (Sinn Fein). That's kind of what Hamas is in Palestine, a political wing and a terrorist wing.
Britain didn't lob missiles at Irish cities in response to IRA bombings, and in the end they eliminated the IRA as a meaningful terrorist organization (they still exist but are largely inconsequential).
Israel's method of lobbing missiles at Palestinian occupied areas really doesn't work. The reality is they have to follow one of two paths to resolve the issue.
1) Use Britain's path with the IRA, where through diplomacy they get the Palestinian government to ally with them to go after Hamas and other terrorists through joint efforts to hunt down and punish those performing the actions without civilian deaths.
or
2) Take over all of the Palestinian areas and jail/execute/expel all those who refuse to follow Israeli laws.
Lobbing missiles that kill civilians just prolongs what is already happening. It makes those who's family and friends are being killed side with Hamas rather than Israel, and creates a new generation of anti-Israeli terrorism.
DOn't take any of this as support for Hamas or lack of empathy for Israel. It's simply a disagreement on Israeli methods of retaliation. Eye for an eye might work if you're only dealing with those who actually attack you. If you're killing large numbers of civilians too, it's just reinforcing the cycle of violence. And while I can grant you have a right to take those actions, it doesn't make those actions smart.

DeSantis has made sweeping changes to the leadership groups behind the scenes at FSU and UF.
Whether you like that will depend on your politics, but the woke stuff is getting cleaned out from the educational system from Pensacola to Key West.

I really think that the key is to turn the scrutiny back on these people like the group that hired the truck up at Harvard showing the names of the pro-Hamas students. Turnabout is fair play.

Wonderful statement!!
It's encouraging to see that at least some in academia still understand right from wrong, good from evil.

Hamas can be denounced for their terror tactics.
Israel can be denounced for creating multi-generational internment camps and an apartheid state.

Choosing now to denounce Israel is absolutely idiotic. Same as those that brought up America’s faults right after 9/11.

He’s a good man. I’m not surprised by his statement. Hoping he will be able to right the ship in the athletic department.
