re: Worst Auburn coaching staff ever? - ALhunter
Are we including all the previous players that are on the staff too?
I mean the staff in aggregate not "OK Cadillac is a good coach". All previous staffs there were some things they did well, some things they did poorly. This staff I can't come up with the positive side of that eq...

Worst Auburn coaching staff ever? - ALhunter
Question for the old timers... is this the worst staff we've ever had? I really started following on the tail end of Terry Bowden but every coach since then has had some good and some bad. I can't figure out the good with Harsin & Co. It's actually crazy that Harsin is only our fourth coach since 19...

re: I believe we can all agree, the best tackle of the weekend - ALhunter
was made by Auburn QB Robby Ashford
I knew it would be this hit before I opened it.
What's so special about it? I would understand if it was a game saving play. But Auburn lost.
It's sarcasm/humor man AU/LSU both know we're in tough spots and are try...

re: PFF Top Performers LSU Edition - ALhunter
• Auburn received a 79.9 pass-block grade, which is much better than what we saw from the PSU game (40.1) and Mizzou game (62.7).
I'm not super surprised by this. Much of the game they were rushing 3 with a spy so basically 5 guys to block 3... forcing Ashford to make throws....
Harsin and company are good coaches but not a good fit for AU.
I really don't think that they are cut out for top tier programs (meaning perennially top 20ish). ...

re: LSU @ Auburn AU 17 - LSU 21 Final - ALhunter
It’s pretty clear coaching is not our problem.
I'm truly perplexed by this perspective. Could you explain a bit more? (1) The coaching staff has had two recruiting cycles to bring in guys they want. Who fit their schemes. The recruiting classes have been horrible. (2) Instead,...

re: It hurts my soul that people like Bryan Harsin are worth millions of dollars - ALhunter
Is there any way we can fire him for negligence (i.e. ignoring recruiting) and not pay him?
I was wondering this. My guess is Auburn would end up in court and would probably settle or lose. It makes AU look really bad IMO unless there are some smoking guns we aren't aware of. ...

re: Harsin Replacement Coach Hot Board - ALhunter
Other than 2013 his coaching career has been a dumpster fire. Even at FSU I never understood why he got 100 mil He actually had a bunch of success at FSU. Obviously not a Saban or anything but he was the closest thing to a "sure bet" type of hire in the college ranks. Had a handful of...

re: Stiener was infuriating me - ALhunter
Steiner was doing what the coaches told him to do on those plays. Turning your back to the ball is not natural for a run first interior linebacker. He was told to do that in practice.
Yea I can promise you he was coached to do that. Same thing where you see a LB occasionally crush...

re: Harsin postgame presser - ALhunter
I can’t help but like the guy and think he was in an untenable situation, some by choice some by circumstance
He honestly reminds me of people I've known professionally who ride off the fact they always dress the part and say the right things without actually getting things done. I...

re: Come back Bo - ALhunter
So yes, he only beats up on "bad teams"...if you pretend like all the good teams he does well against somehow don't count
Yea no point in us dwelling on it too much but he has looked good this year. Could end up with something like 3,250 total yards of offense on a top 10-20 team....

re: LSU 21 @ Auburn 17 Final - ESPN - ALhunter
Targeting requires h2h contact no?
They are calling it on guys using the crown of the helmet to tackle... it's actually to reduce defender injury like this. Sometimes really hard not to use crown when offensive player goes low as well which makes it tough....

Dual threat guys are really tough to deal with at the collegiate level. I'd still rather have a heisman winner taking snaps. ...

re: Coaches Flaming Out (Especially @ Auburn) - ALhunter
It takes an extreme level of commitment to maintain success at the highest level in any competitive endeavor. Most football coaches flame out when they leave elite programs because it's either up to the NFL or down because you flamed out (or claim a health problem when you burn out). Edit: [quote...

re: What do I think it will take on offense - ALhunter
Our line isn't good enough to run inside zone. Watching Dlinemen shove the double teams into the backfield and then our linemen whiff the scraping LB was just sad. I'd transition to read option, run screen option, normal option (pitch to back), bootleg/roll out RPO with 1-2 reads and then tuck a...

re: Harsin Replacement Coach Hot Board - ALhunter
McCarron still found ways to take a dig at Auburn. He can go piss up a rope.
What a POS. Didn't even finish listening and I'd love to know his "inside sources" at AU - his entire speech was saying AU is a "lower tier" SEC team thinking it's "upper tier" wtf is he talking about. Ob...

re: Harsin Replacement Coach Hot Board - ALhunter
Recent example is Appy St vs. TAM.
Is your point that Jimbo Fisher would have been a bad hire to you coming out of FSU? He was about as close to a sure thing hire as you'll ever get in CFB... If you wouldn't have called him a good hire then what is? In 8 seasons: 6 - 10 ...
