re: This legitimately may be the worst day in Dallas sports history

Adelsons and Nico essentially just kicked every Mavs fan in the nuts. If you look at this from the perspective of what was known prior to the trade, this is absolutely the worst trade in sports history. And to the fricking LAKERS which is like rubbing salt in the wound.
Did Jerry plant his demon seed in Miriam Adelson? Do they have video of Luka performing bukake with DeShaun and Justin Tugger at the spa? WTF?!?!?!

Jayden is a god damn baller. Skins no longer have Theismann, Riggins, Talbert, Manley, Grimm so hard to hate. And players, ownership, coach likable. Please die Jerry, die!!!

1 - you’re a moron
2 - you can’t possibly be an LSU fan though there are a few on this board that for some reason hate Burrow and JD #doesnotcompute

re: Is Jerry Jones going to screw the pooch on the next HC selection?

Is this a joke/rhetorical question? I’m a 7th generation Dallasite and used to live and die by the outcome of games. I am almost completely indifferent to the Cowboys now and they will never, ever win again until not only Jerry is dead but the entire family is no longer involved and has sold the team. Not holding my breath on the latter. I would love to be wrong, but pretty sure I’m not. Absolutely no coach of any caliber will take this job unless Jerry gets the duck out of the way - which he hasn’t done since Parcells was the coach.

I wouldn't take a single one of these guys in the first round

One of a kind. And perhaps top ten all time guy I would have liked to have a beer with.

Love Henry. Reminds me of Earl in style and temperament. Barry, Jim, and Walter also always acted like they had been there before.

re: Why do people on here hate Ohio State?
Posted by slobhorn on 1/12/25 at 2:03 pm
See my post above. Again, I don’t dislike Ohio State but this simply isn’t true and there are WAY too many incidents to indicate otherwise. The school president literally sent an apology letter to Texas after the 2005 game because fan behavior was so bad. I can’t speak to what it is like for OSU fans in Ann Arbor, but as a Texas fan that has attended games at both campuses were orders of magnitude better at Michigan. I’ll still be rooting for the Buckeyes in the title game, but their fans by and large are absolutely worse than most. I am also 99.9% sure that their shite fans never even logged a semester at the school because the alumni I’ve met and known have universally been good people.

I respect Ohio State and have a few close friends that are alumni and are great people. The reason their fans have a terrible reputation (earned IMO) is because the contingency that cheers for them but never attended the school are as bad as any in American sports.
When Texas played them in the shoe in 2005, there were Ohio State fans (again, I’m quite sure they weren’t alumni) throwing full bottles of beer at elderly female UT fans and children. This wasn’t an isolated incident. Challenged to fights after the game for no reason other than that we won.
When they played in Austin the next year and beat us, talked to some cool OSU fans, congratulated them, told them I hoped they enjoyed the trip, and wished them luck the rest of the way. One of the Columbus townie types and his friend are lurking nearby and start yelling at me about how Texas sucks, Austin sucks, it’s ugly, the women are ugly, etc.
The only experience I’ve had as an opposing fan that is anywhere close to what I saw in Columbus in 2005 was the last SWC game against Aggy when corps idiots were punching UT coeds with closed fists. I might expect that from Premier League fans, but I hope I never see shite like that in any American sport ever again.

Well, we can compare predictions after the 20th
re: Ohio State -9.5 vs Notre Dame

Yep. This is a terrible matchup for ND (to be fair, Texas would have been as well). ND doesn’t have a good enough passing game to compete against these teams, and if they get down 10 points (they will) they aren’t facing a one dimensional Penn State offense that will give them chances to get back in the game. Unless OSU comes in way too cocky or spends the next week on a bender celebrating last night, they will easily cover the spread and the game won’t be close.
He will never do it and I understand why, but ND would have a better chance starting Angeli as he at least presents a somewhat credible passing threat. Knowles can put 8 in the box and OSU will still hold up against the Irish passing game.

One of the best academic institutions and athletic programs in the country producing a hell of a lot more than that is objective fact, not my subjective opinion. I have family that grew up in/went to Tennessee, kids have friends there, fun state, good college town, etc., but the message board Vols are certainly a discredit to the school and the state.
re: How far off is our defense from looking like Texas or OSU ?

I’m a Texas grad/fan but have 2 kids at LSU. I can’t speak to the DBs which remains LSU’s biggest liability, but Bo Davis is the fricking man and as long as you have him the DL results will follow.
Between recruiting classes and portal I’d be bullish on LSU next year. Defense makes same improvement next year relative to what they did from 23-24 combined with the (likely) best returning QB in college football and they can win a lot of games.
Simmons would have made a huge difference for LSU and while I’m glad he’s at Texas if his brother weren’t special needs I think he would have signed with the Tigers.

That he didn’t give express instructions to not even attempt a pass more than 5 yards down field or just keep giving it to the RBs that were gashing ND is unreal.
I cannot believe there are multiple NFL draft guys that think Allar would be QB1 if he came out. Dude is trash.

I have never seen a football player at any level dominate a game like Suh did us that year. Our OL was poor but good lord he made them his bitches.
Our 2008 team was much better and if if it weren’t for Gideon dropping an easy interception/us getting screwed by the BCS I’m 100% convinced we beat Florida and have another title.

Laughable that they and Baylor are still allowed to have sports programs at any level. SMU getting the death penalty for doing something that isn’t even a rounding error compared to their levels of depravity tells you all you need to know about the NCAA and their moral hypocrisy.
And I hate Notre Dame but will never cheer for PSU again. As a Texas fan, outcome doesn’t matter because the winner of tomorrow night’s game is winning it all.

re: Is there one pundit that is picking Texas?

Not a bad idea. Our interior OL was abysmal against ASU. If we make a starting lineup change, though, I’d rather move McDonald to the starting lineup and bench Muhammad. He has been a huge liability the past two games and while Clemson has really good WRs, ASU doesn’t, and neither team has anyone close to Smith.
re: Question for Texas fans & those familiar with Texas football.

The most idiotic thing on this website is the generalization of fanbases. Most fans from any school are good people and will give you a beer/feed you if visiting their town. Overall Texas fans aren’t rabid enough to be assholes. And I have several close friends that are OSU grads and great people. But not sure we should accept a lecture from y’all given that when I I attended the Shoe in 2005 I saw several OSU fans (doubtful they were actually alumni but still) throw full bottles of beer directly at elderly UT fans including women.
Same reason Aggie crying about the Horns is absurd. I have a shitload of ATM friends and employee several of them. But after seeing corps dudes throw closed fist punches at UT coeds on Kyle Field after the last SWC game I’ll roll my eyes anytime they portray our fan base as shitty.
