No idea why this was downvoted as it is 100 percent accurate. I have seen every game both Texas and LSU have played the last several years. I love Tre and wish him the best and wish we could keep him. But we have better players coming in and he can get more money elsewhere. Truly wish him nothing but the best.
Also - Durham and Berry have more upside than Tre. There is a reason they were more highly recruited. I bet you see a lot better production from both next year with better coaching and OL play.

This reminds me (painfully) of the 1991 Texas-Miami Cotton Bowl. It was Texas only decent season when I was there (real chance at a top 5 finish had we won this game). Time and too many drinks at the time have made me forget the name of the bar, but it was an 11AM kick off as well and I shite you not that I personally witnessed multiple Texas starters at this bar near closing time. Say what you want about those great Canes teams, but when it came time to lock shite down they did and they fricking hammered us.
I firmly believe if we had the current playoff structure then that Miami team would have won it all. Got better as the season wore on and nobody wanted to face them in the bowl game. A true embarrassment as a Longhorn, made only slightly better by the fact that a friend (think of David Allan Coe's longhaired redneck) kicked the shite out of a Miami fan who was a bit too aggressive and confrontational in celebrating after the game. I don't condone violence and especially not at games, but in this case I really, REALLY needed that to assuage my disappointment.

Hasn’t been the same since his last concussion. IMO he should retire as it’s idiotic to risk further damage. But even at a reduced level of play he is still better than what a lot of teams are trotting out on the field. I don’t know how to make the numbers work, but I could see KC bringing him in to start the season assuming Mahomes is out for the first several games. Indianapolis as well. Needs to be a team with other pieces in place. I’m a Texas homer but thought Quinn got a bad rap and could be a productive QB in the league and to me looked better yesterday than Tua has most of the year.
Not to diminish what Bear did, but Saban’s accomplishments are way more impressive. Did it in a much more competitive era of college FB )and particularly for the SEC) and his coaching tree is second to none. I don’t like saying never when it comes to accomplishments, but I doubt we’ll ever see someone replicate what he did.
I picture Irvin getting pulled over on Highway 6 on the way out yesterday like Bronson Pinchot got pulled over on the PCH in True Romance.

I’ll take the opinion of all 32 NFL GM’s (would unanimously agree with me, BTW) over a Gamecock

LSU is an adopted team for me through my kids, but I can’t imagine for the life of me actively rooting against great Longhorns/Tigers. Worse - it’s for the dumbest of reasons like not liking how he dresses or his haircut. Talk about snowflakes. The dude has been a Top 5 QB since he’s been in the league with a bottom 5 OL the entire time.
Dude - in addition to being one of the worst posters on this board (quite an accomplishment, given the competition), your and the broader Notre Dame fanbase’s complete lack of self-awareness is…something. That a good school with I’m quite sure accomplished alumni in PR/communications, the continued own goals here are impressive to witness.
Boo-hoo you didn’t make the playoffs. Maybe beat the teams that are there and play a better schedule. I have no doubt that ND was one of the 12 best teams in the country, but y’all got fricked by a system your own AD had a significant role in designing. Oh - the irony. And Texas was one of the 12 best teams left but I’m not gonna bitch because we lost 3 game so shame on us.
In short - frick off and do some reflection on why the rest of CFB - including some that agree that ND should have been in and are in some cases sympathetic if not supportive of your program - think you come off as massive pussies.

Yeah - notoriously terrible academic school Texas. frick off fake pony.
Flood is the biggest mystery on staff to me - even moreso than Sark's stubbornness in hiring a true OC. His lines were lights out at Bama, but with even mediocre OL play this year we are 12-1 and in the playoffs (we win OSU and FL with even a semblance of execution there).
He absolutely needs to hire an OC, but this is a great hire for Texas even if I agree that Pete did a good job here. There's got to be something else in the background motivating this because I'm not sure improvement on what was already a solid unit is enough to spur this decision.

I was SHOCKED when the texts starting coming in about this while on work calls. Mainly because Kwiatkowski did a good job (Akina was the man in his prime, but game passed him by so not surprised by that decision). But Muschamp is an elite DC. He's not HC material but that's not what we hired him for so I am cautiously optimistic. He did an A+ job the last time he coached the Horns.

Can someone help me to understand why an SMU fan that is one of the worst posters on this board constantly drags LSU? A program his (her?) school has zero history with? I’m not the smartest guy in the world so someone make it make sense.

Well, he's a much better NFL player than either of them. I'll give you injuries on Bo, but Herschel lacked lateral mobility and got by as a strictly north and south runner that bowled over smaller opponents in college. He also played in a much less competitive era for the SEC.Will be an unpopular opinion on this board and I obviously can't denigrate his college career as he is an all-time great at that level, but Herschel doesn't crack my top 100 running back list all-time and even if looking at power backs, he pales in comparison to Derrick, Earl, Marshawn, Eddie George and many others who were far more versatile and athletic.

Surprises me - met him once and was really cool to me and my wife
Hate, hate to agree with you because I am a 7th generation Dallasite, love the Cowboys, and loved Emmitt as a player- but kind of a dick in person and this is coming from a fan.
Biggest dick (likely a surprise to most): Grant Hill
Nicest, coolest, cannot say enough good things about him - Earl Campbell. Close second is Drew Pearson - gave me a Super Bowl ring, let me wear it for a couple of hours at a party, took pics, great guy.
Also really nice albeit reserved - Tim Duncan

I fricking hate A&M but Myles is an absolute stud and I hate seeing great players damned to shitty franchises. Like much of a life, a lot of success is luck and timing and his has been bad on both counts.
And as always, you can’t discuss Myles Garrett without sharing one of the funniest pictures of all time. He has always been a man among boys.

1994 Tyler John Tyler vs Plano East
Posted by slobhorn on 12/13/25 at 11:24 am
Seeing the ending of the Saint Charles - Shaw game made me think of the craziest playoff game in Texas high school football history, 1994 semifinal between Tyler John Tyler and Plano East. Beyond the crazy story lines (abridged and fuller context versions pasted below), the sheer homerism of the Plano announcers is perfect for the situation. I was rooting for Tyler so happy for the outcome but what a comeback this was.

Yep - and proud of it. But I don’t let politics influence friendships or my judgment of people. To each their own. Have plenty of friends and family to the right of Attila the Hun. I do generally have more respect for the old GOP/Rockefeller Republican types than the current version but oh well.
And FWIW most Texas grads aren’t really insulted or bothered by being called libtards, Utrans, etc. get better material.

Good question - a few reasons. My son was HS Class of 2021 and was really fricked by COVID (went to Woodrow). He was in IB but a late bloomer academically and kind of did the bare minimum to get good grades (but not top 6%). Applied to OU, KS, LSU, and Texas - got into to first 3 with lots of scholarship money to the first two. But he just wasn’t enthusiastic about college until he visited LSU with a Jesuit buddy and as soon as he returned from that trip we knew that’s where he would end up. I was so impressed with OU that I both called and wrote our admissions contact to thank them and to this day encourage families to look at the school. For lack of a better way to express it, they seemed to truly care about the kids more than any school we’ve dealt with before or since. Also - I went to Saint Mark’s and David Boren’s daughter was a boarder at Hockaday when I was there and I was really impressed with what he did as college president. And my grandfather played OL for OU in the leather helmet days, so while I still hate y’all for one day in October each year I don’t hate y’all as much as a lot of Texas fans.
My daughter is HS class of 2023 and I always thought she would end up at Texas. Should have but didn’t get in, and I didn’t want to do the CAP program (provisional admission with a lot of restrictions). Really thought she’d go to Colorado (admitted with scholarship) but she is close to her brother and wanted an SEC environment even more than skiing. She’s in the Honors College and fortunately did get a generous scholarship (thankfully since OOS tuition ain’t cheap). LSU is certainly not perfect but like most SEC schools the academics are getting better, was very satisfied with my son’s upper division courses (finance major, works in the investment group at Bank of America), and very happy with the Honors College (great teachers, small classes). We also love Louisiana culture and had a lot of friends from New Orleans and South Louisiana.
Sorry for the TL:DR - college decisions are tough. Good luck against Bama.
