Not taking any moral victory. We still lost.

And please, nothing will top Ole Miss's 2003 SECW championship.

That's irrelevant when ranking teams. Auburn, LSU and Florida should be about as close as three teams can be - regardless of what happened in Utah in 1857.

The idea is to determine relative rankings of all the teams.

And regardless of whether you think he's reasonable, anyone who confuses "loss" (noun) with "lost" (verb) is suspect, imo.

You were completely dominated. Decent teams don't NOT score. And you were at home, and they covered the spread and then some.
And it does matter who wins and loses ahead and behind you.

The problem is the Committee is completely unconcerned with the rankings outside of the top 10. This years Chairman of the Committee specifically said last night the "sole" (his word) job of the Committee is to rank the top 4 teams. Yet the SEC has tied who goes to the Sugar Bowl into the hands of a Committee that clearly could care less about accurately ranking teams past the top 8 to 10. That's a problem. Anyone who thinks LSU should have fallen 11 spots (and don't forget they also fell at least 10 spots after losing to Florida) after the game against Alabama is being an idiot, I don't care what other teams that week did. Just this week Tennessee loses to Vandy and only falls 5 spots; the lack of consistency in these rankings is very concerning. But at the end of the day I don't really care because LSU can look in the mirror and realize if they don't blow a game they dominated to Florida they would have gotten a Sugar berth; and if you're not in the Top 4, does it really matter.

Playing one less game also probably plays a role, whether it should or not.

You'd probably have been better off not playing Florida, as dumb as that sounds.

But LSU way back there at #21 behind teams like Western Michigan, Stanford, Navy, and Utah

Outside of navy and Western Michigan, I don't think LSU is better than Stanford or Utah

Yeah. It is what it is. I'm not torn up about it. Congrats to Auburn.

Meh, I don't think Alabama is better than tOSU.

Put it all together, and you still end up with bupkis.

Auburn barely beat LSU at home before LSU re-vamped their offense.

Did LSU really "re-vamp" the offense, or did they just beat up on some trash defenses. Here are the Power 5 defenses LSU faced this season, as they rank in Total Defense:

#1 Alabama
#6 Florida
#7 Wisconsin
#21 Auburn
#75 Arkansas
#92 Texas A&M
#110 Ole Miss
#110 Mississippi State
#117 Missouri

Notice a big gap anywhere?

So against Top 70 Power 5 defenses, LSU was 0-4..... they were 0-2 under Miles and 0-2 under Coach O.

Did the offense really get re-vamped under Coach O, or did they just get to play five opponents with an average total defense ranking of #100? I saw very little difference in the LSU offense against both Alabama and Florida as I did against Wisconsin and Auburn.

How was the offense, or even the game plan for that matter, any different against Alabama this year compared to games against Alabama the last several years?

If anyone's being honest and looks at how impressive LSU has been in their wins and how close all four of LSU's losses were (3 pretty much coming down to the final play) they have to consider LSU a team that is a lot more dangerous than their ranking compared to some other teams.

However, there is something to be said for actually winning one of the games against a solid Top25 team so there's also not a lot to bicker about at being #21.

I do still question how in the world they fell so far the week after playing Alabama so tough.

Texas A&M has a win over Auburn, so do we have to rank them #13 then? Oh wait, LSU beat A&M, so let's stick us at #12 then.

Obviously you can't always say that the better team won the game. Especially when the difference is 1 second.
