1987 was the last year of the true double elimination format they went to the two bracket format with a single championship game from 1988-2002 I know because in 1989 Texas became the first team to not win the CWS despite only having one loss.

To put the CWS into perspective I went to the 2002 championship game between Texas and South Carolina we walked straight up to the box office at Rosenblatt the day before the game and bought 3rd row tickets behind the 3rd base dugout for $25 a piece. I had no idea the magic I was dealing with back then

I went every year from 2002-05 got to party with the Street family at Starsky's after the 2002 championship then going to have victory steaks at Drover with them was definitely the all time highlight.

Troy was back to back Division II College World Series Champions in 1986 and 1987. I was there as a little kid in 1987. So it's been nearly 40 years since Troy played for a natty in baseball. A long long time ago.

The most underrated part of that graphic is that the North Colorado Bears have not made the NCAA Division I baseball tournament since I have been alive and yet they have still been more times than Texas A&M as a school in it's entire history

Also this is UNCs 13th appearance so they didn't fully update it also that puts UNC in sole possession of first place on the most appearances without a title list if they don't win this year. They were previously tied with Arkansas and Clemson.

Ok. I don’t feel as bad that we didn’t pull that out. Those fans deserve the appearance.
