But nah. The football program should be kept open and they deserve their own stadium being built.

People were so upset that the program was shut down and threw a hissy fit but they won't go and support an 11 win program.

That's what? 25k? Not completely terrible for a cusa team playing in the ghetto.

Southern Miss - 21,615

USM may get that many butts in the seats if there are no soccer tournaments going on in South Mississippi, they are undefeated, they are playing a P5 conference team, the weather is sunny and it's in the high 70's, and the wind blows just the right way.

USM's attendance is embarrassing. I'd put their average at around 12,000.

Auburn is a cheating little school that should have gotten the death penalty a long time ago. So it only follows that their own rats won’t fill their infested ship.

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go thru life son. Old Dominion plays in a 20,000 seat stadium in a town with a metropolitan population of 1.7 million. UAB could easily do that in a 20,000 seat stadium.

1. NEBRASKA (4-8) – 104.2% (Memorial Stadium holds 85,458)

How is this even possible?

Effectively the stadium becomes the third most populated "city" in Nebraska on game days (Bellevue, NE POP 55K APPROX)

This is similar to every state without multiple major metro areas

Schools in small towns can draw from the wealth of fans in larger cities who want to spend a weekend in their old college town. It works both ways.

But, you admit that such a draw is limited to alumni support, rather than local fans with no actual ties to the university who just want to take in a game, rather than make a full weekend out of it.

No one goes to Ga Tech games and they practically give away tickets

It's interesting that you selected GT.

Here are their attendance rankings since the NCAA started keeping track:

2003: 37 (average about 51000) 7-6
2004: ?? 7-5
2005: 40 (average about 51000) 7-5
2006: 40 (average about 51000) 9-5
2007: 44 (average about 50000) 7-6
2008: 48 (average about 47000) 9-4
2009: ??(12 largest increase in attendance)(average about 51000) 11-3
2010: (average about 46000) 6-7
2011: ?? (average about 48000) 8-5
2012: ?? (average about 43000) 7-7
2013: (average about 49000) 7-6
2014: (average about 49000) 11-3
2015: (average about 50000) 3-9
2016: (average about 47000) 9-4
2017: (average about 46000) 6-5
2018: (average about 43000) 7-6

Georgia Tech Attendance Records 2003-2018

That actually proves that attendance at GT games improved during or following a decent season, which could indicate that sidewalk fans get interested when GT performs better.

Those are more than likely tickets sold. They are no where near 40k on average. They have almost entire sections that stay vacant. They even sell season ticket packages for under $50

Is that because nobody in urban areas likes to go see football games?

I raised this about our ticket sales not long ago.

We took measure I have not seen in a long time. I think it is more to do with the state of football and the culture we are promoting.

Can't wait for our first female QB that's not allowed to be tackled...

Not only does UGA do a good job of selling tickets they do a great job filling the stadium. I don’t know if you have vision difficulties or have had to many adult beverages at pregame tailgates but I have not missed a home game since late in the ‘84 season and I can tell you we pack the place. It’s true it takes the students and especially the fraternities a while to arrive but they eventually wander in. Of course, once our Dawgs start some serious pounding of our opponents into the turf, visitors are usually seen making an early exit. But the stadium is sold out and once everyone gets there and before the beatdown gets too painful Sanford is packed.

This is a bit misleading. Some of these schools with 100k plus seating will be 75% full. They claim a sellout because the seat is sold

Ohio State counts attendance as scanned tickets. 100% are always sold but not always scanned.

You don't notice UAB is playing in a stadium that seats 71.6k? UAB would be selling out the stadiums of several of the teams above them on this list that aren't even filling half of their stadiums but I don't see you crying about any of them. A brand new smaller stadium is opening downtown in time for 2021 that's much closer and much easier to get to from campus, and then UAB will be on the top half of this list and you'll be able to stop crying.

Yeah them being in Legion is a huge caveat regardless, I’ll be shocked if two years from now UAB is selling their stadium out or coming anywhere close to it

I want to know how Meechigan gets 110,721 butts in 107,601 seats.
