For "loyal" aggy's "world-famous, jam-packed" game against Clemson last year (what might be their greatest loss in school history), only 87,765 tickets were scanned, but attendance was announced at 104,794.

So Old Dominion does better attendance wise than Ohio State and Auburn according to this list?

I can't see anything wrong with it

Auburn is a cheating little school that should have gotten the death penalty a long time ago. So it only follows that their own rats won’t fill their infested ship.

People were so upset that the program was shut down and threw a hissy fit but they won't go and support an 11 win program.

They averaged just over 24,000 in attendance per game in 2018. So, if we use that logic to shut down UAB...who else should be on the cutting block?

UAB - 24,291
Tulsa - 17,098
Air Force - 27,701
Akron - 18,515
Arkansas St. - 19,834
Bowling Green - 15,044
Duke - 26,646
Kansas - 19,424
Marshall - 24,063
MTSU - 15,577
Rice - 20,172
Southern Miss - 21,615
Troy - 24,527
Wake Forest - 26,842
Wyoming - 18,880

This is just a handful of programs with attendance just above, or below that of UAB. I haven't heard anyone recently talk about shutting down Duke, Air Force or Troy.

Even when Memphis is good, and they've been pretty good the last few years, the support just is not there for the football team.

Memphis loves their basketball and they even love football... they just don't love Memphis football.

UAB plays in a shitty stadium that is way too big for their program. Like most of the other CUSA members, they should be in a stadium that holds around 30,000.

This is slightly OT, but the absolute worst, all time, would be Houston in the 1980's.

A couple of you aggies and razorbacks may be old enough to remember this, but the cougars where actually an excellent program with record setting offenses, a Heisman trophy winning QB, a home schedule with the likes of Texas, A&M, Arkansas, SMU when we were top 5, top 20 Baylor, Rice which was around the corner and OOC opponents like Miami when they were the "U", top 20 Washington, all played in the Astrodome -

Nobody came. Nobody. They struggled to get 15k to a game.

Felt sorry for them. Ultimate commuter school.

I would have assumed that based on Mullen's ability to coach and gameplan that UF would be in the top 3.

Legion field holds 70k plus, so this is not really a fair list. The same could be said about other teams that play in outdated, large, city-built venues. UAB didn't build it. The city of Birmingham did. They just won a conference championship last year.

This list would be more accurate for UAB after the new stadium is finished. Even then, UAB still didn't fully build itself, Bham did.

That means they sold SRO to the capacity of 89,047 per game.

Pretty impressive.

I don’t beleive that I ever saw us (LSU) have 90+% in the stadium. I s’pose this is ticket sales.

I find it more impressive when schools in smaller towns (e.g., KState/Manhattan, KS) draw good crowds, vs when schools in larger cities (e.g., U of Washington/Seattle) do.

Less impressive because there is so many other options in big cities. The game in Manhattan KS is the only game in time for that afternoon/evening.

Sanford Stadium is rarely filed to capacity. You should change the title to best job selling tickets.

This is a bye product of being in the middle of SEC country. Folks love Memphis basketball, but come Saturday every fall, they are watching Ole Miss, State, Tennessee, or Arkansas.

Memphis packs their stadium when they are playing State or Ole Miss - with State or Ole Miss fans.

So about a 24,300 per game average.

The new stadium is supposed to have a 45K capacity. I really hope the new location will help with attendance.

I'd guess something closer to Tulane's stadium capacity wise would be better for UAB, but all the tradition, history, and pageantry associated with the Birmingham Bowl probably requires larger stadium.

The best thing that will help them with attendance is to play on Thursday night or something. They aren't going to draw flies when Alabama and Auburn are playing at the same time.

The one that really stands out to me is USF, they have right at 50k students and can’t fill a 66k stadium.
