Cole had 8 tackles, 1 sack, 1TFL, two fumble recoveries 1 for an 85 yard TD.
It was a crazy day for individual defensive performances. I can see why they might pick Cole over Simmons, but yeah, I have no doubt that Simmons actions on the field for the penalty played a part in their decision and was their way of slapping him on the wrist.

Personally, I chalked it up to being an immature kid. Sark should probably make him run some stadium steps, and tell him a repeat performance would result in a suspension, and nothing like that should ever happen again.

That's not true. He was roundly criticized on here. He got a penalty flag that also cost his team the game.

I remember how Urb operated. He would retroactively suspend him for the Texas State game or if it had to be an upcoming contest, he would lower the boom and suspend him for the Arkansas game. You can bet your life dude would be on the field against anyone with a pulse.

It was disgraceful and all UT supporters should be ashamed of it and the other celebrations. It’s not how #1 should act unless you’re 1991 Miami. It’s not a vibe Texas has ever had though.
Having said that, Simmons is an absolute beast and game changer. He’s gonna be a lot to handle for everyone on the schedule.

I dont think you reward him in any way after that display. Raleek Browns celebration shouldve been flagged too. Completely over the top and they both deserve to run stairs until they puke more than once. Unacceptable behavior especially out of the best player on the team.

when Texas loses in the playoffs because the offense can't score, that guy can sit back with a grin, knowing that it was because Sark didn't bench Simmons against Oklahoma

It will be done by RRS, if he has a plus game against OU we will not hear about this again.
This was blown WAY out of proportion because A) its Texas, B) we are the current #1 ranked team (although probably should be more like 3-7 and C) Simmons is a top 5 NFL pick.

Between now and draft day NFL scouts will be watching his behavior, on and off the field and if they detect a pattern they don't like it could cost him some money.
Given the hype surrounding the RRS and the stakes involved I am hoping and expecting he extends a drive or two for OU.

Agree, it was dumb but he has never done anything remotely like that before. This requires some old school run gassers / stadium and make it hard or do it with the entire team type of punishment.
The best way is to teach him the impact of his NFL future and how NFL teams perceive this.

Yes, they dont understand what AI is and how easy it is to manipulate people.
