Coach O should have stuck with Brandon Harris a little longer

Harris always freaked me out cause he had so much raw talent. If the light finally came on, he was going to be a nightmare. With the way LSU's new coordinator started opening the offense up, he could have really thrived when not only being asked to throw on third down. Etling just doesn't have the talent that is required to really threaten Bama, IMO.

Update: I realize Coach O didn't actually bench Harris, but I think he should have at least given him a look at some point.

Etling has a future in the NFL. Harris does not.

I realize a lot of non-LSU fans don't know a lot and have not watched a lot of Etling, but he has the "it" factor. He's a good QB.

Harris' problem was not his talent. It was his decision making.

He was better on the deep ball, though.

Etling can run as well. Expect to see some of that.

The offense has improved dramatically every week. With two weeks to work on what they are doing, this is going to be a different kind of offense than Alabama has seen the last 5-6 years. I'm not saying it will be enough to win, but it won't be as predictable.

I agree. I feel like he has all of the athletic tools to be a great QB, but is a huge mental case. You can tell he's in his own head. I think the reason they stuck with him so long is because apparently he would shine in practice.

While a novel thought, it's obvious you have not watched many LSU games, nor seen the lack of progression through possible targets. Kid may be needed one day and we hope he has picked up the necessary skills in practice to perform better on the field. Thanks for your concern!

Damn, the homer is strong with this one. Unless you meant in an equipment manager role or in a non physical participaton type position. Ettsiderp will not ever play a snap as a starting NFL QB.

Harris doesn't because Les mismanaged him so badly...but Etling doesn't have a chance in Hell. LSU fans are so blinded by it because he isn't worthless. He's what LSU needs right now, but he's not a talented QB. He has lots of moxy and grit, but arm talent is not NFL

You are correct! I love how folks forget that the kid was playing in an offense that worked against what his stregnths. The old farts had him playing in an offense from the 70s. The way it is spread out now, he would thrive. It's funny how suddenly Etling is looking like a super hero because he can take a hit. Harris was the casualty of stupid coaching....PERIOD! I feel bad for this kid because he has talent and can play!
