U just haven't watched LSU enough to know what Harris lacks. It's the same with me and your QB. I don't comment on him because all I see are highlights. Harris does not have any accuracy what so ever. His mechanics are terrible and he has no pocket presence at all because his foot work sucks. He as a rocket for an arm that is it.

2 Hypothetical questions.....You are the head coach of the current LSU team with this exception - your 4 quarterbacks are Greg McElroy, Jake Coker, AJ McCarron and Brandon Harris. Which one would you say has the most talent and which one are you going to start in a big game against a great opponent with your season and your job on the line?

They lead the country in rush defense and sacks. They're on another planet. I'm sorry you can't handle that.

As an LSU fan, etc will never play in the NFL. The OUT throws and his deep ball inaccuracy has been well documented - just doesn't have the arm talent. That doesn't mean he can't use his other skills to be a damn good college QB. With that said, go watch the play fake and read options. He is reading the defense presnap much like Mett did. If he had Metts arm talent, he would be an NFL QB even at his height. He is better in the pocket than Mett was. Period and he can run when he needs to. All that said, the 1 -3 second freeze on those play actions will cause issues for 60 min of that game. That's why it works in the NFL today. Some things never change. LSU with a few screens will slow the rush down and couple that with a few slants then that opens it up for Fournette. . Pretty simple. The OLINE execution of LSU vs Bama dline won't be as disparingly different because those safeties won't suck up and rush straight up the field to clog the run lanes this game. Yes there will be TFLs and probably a couple sacks. Can expect that. Take care of the ball, and this will be a close game because Areanda will play Chavis and keep Hurts in the pocket and make him beat our corners I. Tight windows. Our LBs will have an impact on covering the TE and we will see how all that plays out. Lane better have a shite ton of screens and misdirection plays in store or we are dead looking at 9-6 again.

Has nobody pointed out to this guy that the change to Etling was made before coach O took over?

Uhm, yeah. Which is why he's saying Harris might be able to see his potential turn into production in the new offense.............

ETA: I see y'all's point about the title. Not exactly sure that's what he meant with it, though.

Harris has tons of physical talent, it just hasn't clicked for him mentally. He isn't a big guy, but damn he has a hell of an arm.
I don't know why Les insisted on making him a pocket qb. Put him in Herman's offense and watch how well he would do.

It's not that simple when you're talking about your O-line going against our D-line. McElroy, Coker, and AJ would get eaten alive, period. Harris at least can run, which would open some things up.

I'm as big a LSU fan as there is and will support your Danny having "it". We can be good with a QB like him, but I don't know that he has the tools to be an NFL QB.

Ole Miss hung 43 points and 522 yards on them in 24:37.
Arkansas threw for 400 yards and scored 30 on them despite turning it over 5 times.

Your other-wordly defense has a few chinks in their intergalactic armor.

OP said coach O should have "stuck with Brandon Harris" as if Coach O was going with Harris when he took over.

Either way, Etling is a better QB in our system than Harris. LSU fans have begged for a "game manager" at QB for years. Someone like McCarron, Coker, etc. that's what we have in Etling and it has worked great.

We don't need the QB with the best arm or the best physical skill set. We need someone to get the ball to our playmakers, and Etling is very good at doing that.

Funny how nobody thought this leading up the game last year. I love the mental gymnastics the SECr partake in concerning LSU

"lolz LSU won't win shite with retard Les Miles"
-fired-
"lolz LSU won't win shite after firing their most successful coach"

"lolz nobody is scared of Brandon Harris. Terrible QB"
-benched after being god awful-
"lolz LSU has a better chance with that freak of an athlete Harris on their bench"

Neither will that wobble ball throwing QB Bama has. He's athletic. That's where his talent at QB ends.

Arkansas threw the ball 48 times. frick off

You're going to be shocked as frick after this game if you don't think Alabama's defense is as good as Alabama fans are saying.

You didn't answer either of my questions.

My ideal QB has the ability to lead, manage, make good decisions, change the play at the LOS, find open receivers, hit intermediate passes and protect the football. All of these attributes are more important than his ability to chuck the rock a country mile.

Yes. When coach O got the job, he could have stuck with Harris for a bit longer and given him a chance in the new offense. I know Etling, played before O got the job. I'm sure OP does as well. The saying, "hey let's stick with Harris for a bit longer" still works and makes sense.
