Yes it does

Just so we're clear, in your mind, every Tennessee fan in existence, or even a majority of them, legitimately believed we were hiding Gruden?
I just want to understand the type of intellect I'm dealing with here.

Just so we're clear, in your mind, 99 out of 100 Tennessee fans were making fun of the 1 for thinking Gruden might be hired?

Love that meme but extremely poor usage ITT

I don't think you can get 99% of Tennessee fans to agree on anything, perhaps I wasn't clear what I meant by "us".
99% of the Tennessee fans on here were posting Grumors to troll the rant and Make fun of the Volnation morons.
Matter of fact, I posted a thread flat out telling the rant that we were going to do exactly that before Butch Jones was even fired, and I even said, in that thread, that the morons on this board would ignore my warning and cry like females every time a Grumor was posted. I called my shot, like the great Bambino, and went yard.
But no, 99% of all Tennessee fans were not actively trolling the other 1%.
You mind answering my question now?

Clay is a tool but anyone portraying the anti-Haslam faction as bad is dumber than Clay. Congrats.
They’re not bad. They’re just naively believing Haslam is the barrier to them returning to their previous glory. It’s like most downtrodden social groups. They create a fictional oppressor who is the barrier to their success. And then create detailed narratives as to what would happen if those oppressors were removed. It’s all fantasy.

It is really sad that this isn't obvious. I love it because a lot of it was self deprecating humor. I don't trust anyone that won't make fun of their homer side of the fanbase.

There's one fanbase in particular which never gets the joke, or even the subtle nuance of a little sarcasm. Probably because they are the largest fanbase, so they have the biggest number of paste eaters. Some of them are the absolute best, but the worst wear the same colors

Lol imagine the kind of person that opens a thread like that and doesn't realize what's going on

VOLS posters otb and twitter are probably the very best fanbase at making fun of themselves imo. Tbh, we are probably better at talking shite about Tennessee than 95% of the posters on SECRant dot com, sadly

The barrier? No. A barrier? Absolutely. Are you going to pretend to be knowledgeable about the Haslams and their impact on the athletic department and the university of Tennessee, because if you are quick to write Haslam off as some fan created fictional villain, it proves you haven't done your homework.
That's out character for you, fight me irl, at Fazoli's

I would probably agree with that and it makes sense. In theory every fan base should be the best at poking fun at themselves. This forum would be better would more of this going on.

Fazoli’s sucks since they changed bread providers.
Meet me at Noodles, Inc. I will kick yo arse.

I don’t get what Dan Wolken did wrong?... his opinion (that USA Today pays him for) of the Schiano hire was positive... it’s not like he hated the hire, but was gonna “help” Currie set the public narrative.
And it’s pretty ironic UT fans acting like a bunch of screaming children online about this... just shows how right Currie is about their fan base.

I don't know what Noodles, Inc. is but it sounds like shite is getting real between you two.
As for the Haslams... You're missing out on a lot of the history and politics of the last 20+ years. The Haslams controlled Knoxville (Bill was mayor before jumping to governor) and parlayed that power into City, State, and national power. US Senator Bob Corker is bff's with Bill and lived with the Haslam family when they were younger. It's no surprise that Bill and Bob Corker are both going out of office at the end of this term.
TN has a dynasty/nepotism problem. The Haslams, Dunns, and their cronies in the East have controlled GOP politics for generations and pass offices down as though they were inherited. In West, TN the Ford family (democrats) did the same with offices in Memphis and state/local offices. Middle, TN is no better.
The Haslams have been a controlling power at UT since Jim had Fulmer axed and Kiffin hired and the result of Bill becoming Mayor of Knoxville preceded to ramp up their influence of ALL of UT - not just the football program. They've stamped their name on everything not nailed down and several things they had no right to save for the fact that helps to get approval when brother/son Bill is the Governor and titular head of the university.
Football is what outside observers and sadly many in-state folks care the most about but the Haslam influence on UT, Knoxville, and the state in general has been rotten to the core for years. It's a self-serving destructive force that has done nothing but sell out what isn't nailed down for the benefit of themselves and their allies.
It's a problem wayyyy beyond football.

If you read the texts, Currie basically said he needed Wolken to do a spin piece and Wolken agreed. He acted as Currie's spin-doctor because he and Currie were pals. That's not good journalism.

This email to Currie proves our ability to poke fun at ourselves:

Why would Currie need help setting the narrative if the hire was so awesome? Perhaps it's because when Currie floated the names of his top 3 candidates to members of the AD, Mullen, Brohm and Schiano, the only one that got a negative response was Schiano.
Hmmmm

Charging hours to John Currie's PR dept. instead of being a honest/unbiased national football writer for USA Today.
National media is a gotdayum joke. Sucking up to a AD and offering spin in order to maintain access is gutless and embarrassing.

Looks like Wolken is going to try to just ignore all this and hope it goes away. I don't think that UT fans are going to let him off the hook...
