It’s funny LSU thought he would take half what he’s owed.

Did LSU officially confirm that, or are you basing that off internet chatter?
For the record, Low and Moscona wouldn’t know either way. I wouldn’t put any stock into what they say.
Moscona for example, mere hours before Kelly was fired, said definitively that Kelly was NOT getting fired this year. Oops.

Texas Tech vs. Leach is one.
This isn't against a coach, but Sovereign Immunity exception by a major university in Texas.

This is where LSU fans struggle. The reading and comprehension part.
Most of is not all. “Most” is generally considered to be more than half.
So is it 51%? 91%? Neither, are all.
That doesn’t include his staff, next coaching staff, etc.

"We have the best job in the country, and we just blackmailed our last coach out of $30M so we could bring in a new one" certainly was a strategy

Let that be a stark warning to the next coach: if you lose to a top 3 team, you're out the next day and we'll scheme our way out of paying the buyout.

quote:This. LSU will pay him something in the 20s, and it has nothing to do with a "for cause" firing. It's simply a matter of substituting a lump sum for payments over time, and deducting some reasonable fraction (something around 1/3) for what Kelly could reasonably be expected to earn if he was out hitting the pavement looking for a job.
I think things like that are wishful thinking from my fellow LSU fans.
I think the negotiations going on are probably more along the lines of lump sum rather than payout over time, combined with things like waiving/reducing the offset and/or waiving the mitigation requirement. They may point to “for cause” as a bluffing tactic, but an actual for-cause termination would generally only work for something really egregious.
Kelly will take the lump sum and play a lot of golf while waiting to see if something comes along that interests him. LSU gets some finality (and apparently gets one booster to write one check, rather than stringing along the problem). Everyone is satisfied and moves on.

Arkansas tried the cutting the buyout with Bielema after he took the job as assistant secretary to Belichick that paid him next to nothing.
Courts still said we had to pay the buyout. Low is right, Kelly will get his money.

brian kelly has a contract. jury? what exactly are you alleging? what jury?
Breach of contract. Anything can be brought forward and tied up in court.

Don’t worry they have plenty of hospitals to bankrupt to cover the costs as well as canes… but they’ll hire another bad choice and pay them 80 million

what breach of contract? "anything" can be brought forward and tied up in court? you actually believe this?

This thread is hilarious.

Which pretty much means the opposite. Moscona was BK's lackey and is also mildly retarded.

Kelly gettin' a hundo percento of that money. There's not a damn thing LSU can do about it.

Just the cost of doing business in Louisiana. Anyone should know this by now. But most don’t.

Settled .. 27 million. Breach of morality clause was a major factor in the reduction.

Not LSU specific - but it's always funny how morality issues are overlooked until it's time to fire a cosch
