I need the Dolphins to decide they NEED Chase and the Bengals are taking him so they offer Atlanta both 1st rd picks to get to 4. Then we take Pitts or Sewell who ever Cincy passes on and Harris in the lower 1st rd lol.
I want to see Chase reunited with Burrow and Smith with Tua in Miami. (though Waddle seemed to be a more favored target for Tua)

He should be able to get up to at least 185 fairly easily in an NFL program.
He is already in an elite weight training regiment, and he just has little bones and frame
I still think he will be a fantastic pro player

I think so also, but his size is of some concern. He has proven to be tough and durable however. Just not sure about a 166 lb WR lasting very long in the NFL.

Robbie Anderson is only 190 at 6 ft 3. He’s doing fine and isn’t nearly the player that Smitty is.
Smitty could get up to 175 and that’s plenty big for 6 ft. Y’all said the same thing about Kyler Murray and he’s a top 10-12 QB right now.

quote:Pretty much this, I think both guys are gonna be good but the thing that irritates me about the draft evaluation is scouts are quick to overlook guys with proven tape just to go draft a guy on potential. I would rather bank on a proven commodity than take a chance on a maybe especially when my job and career is on the line
It's because Smith is 166 pounds, agree with it or not, that's why.

Well that's not what's happening here.

The fact of the matter is, no NFL evaluators consider a player opting out in a Covid year "quitting." They are trying to find the players who will help their teams win games. In the latest mock draft I read, about half of the top 20 picks were guys who did not play an entire season in 2020
They don’t consider it quitting but quite a few have said all things being equal they’ll take the guy who played over the guy who opted out.

Smith cant hold chase jock. Smith will be hurt and out of draft in 2 years

Chase is a great, physical deep threat, but Smith's skillset is much better suited for consistent production; he's more versatile and can play any WR position and be used in run game formats (ie jet sweeps).

Other than the rah rah LSu homer glasses why do think this? I mentioned Joe Burrow in another thread...would it be unfair to call him injury prone?

Kyle Pitts has a much rarer skillset than either of these guys.
Being 6’6”? He’s basically a black Jimmy Graham

LSU fans are militant level obsessed with chase going over Smith in the draft. It would be their single lone win over Alabama this season. I can see it now 20+ threads. William has gifs on standby. Mulkey hire and chase draft stock his only appearances this season from moms basement :(

Smitty was rarely hurt in 4 years of SEC football, yet he’s magically gonna get put out of the league in the NFL. Half of the better corners in the league are guys he faced, would have faced in the SEC.

Half the best corners in the league weren’t in the SEC the last few seasons. And dominating SEC DBs between 18-21 years old is worlds different than a 25-28 year old NFL vet

I agree, but still Smitty’s athleticism is rare in how he avoids contact. Even when he gets smacked, he pops right back up. There’s not much of him to hit.
I think Calvin Ridley is also a guy to compare him too physically. Ridley isn’t that big. Has a bit bigger frame in the legs, but Ridley was like 185 or 190 coming out.
Smith just has elite ball skills and the heart of a lion. You can’t coach that. He’s gonna be special.

Devonta had 4 carries for 6 yards in his entire college career.
In this thread PP7 for Heisman learns that the modern jet sweep is usually a pass/reception and not a rush/carry.

Smitty outperformed him by a whole Heisman and multiple other awards.
So by this logic, every individual award winner and every Heisman award winner should be the the first player in his position group to be drafted.

Being 6'6, 240, running a 4.4 40, and catching everything thrown his way.
Pitts is a far bigger matchup problem than either Chase or Smith and will likely be drafted before either.
