Chips are down: Why is TTU dug in when they are clearly on the wrong side of history?

I don't think I've ever seen such a black and white case of everyone hating something in college football

They have the money to throw at someone and tamper, why are they hitching their wagon to something so radioactive?

It’s really astonishing. Why would any fan of any team want a guy who’s most likely going to shave points in a game as their starting QB?

I have to admit him claiming he paid for his seats and saying what he wants is exercising his rights appropriately.

Right, they have the resources and the lack of integrity to move on and poach someone from somewhere else, as bad as those optics are there is precedent already set with Ole Miss and Clemson.

What they are doing, is unfathomable.

Also while I disapprove of his choice of colleges JD Runnels is a dude you can't help but like and respect.

Because the idea for years has been to fight the NCAA tooth and nail regardless of how wrong you might be. Problem is, they're so far in the wrong here that the general public despises them. This isn't a case of a kid seeking an extra year of eligibility because he was taking care of his sick mom - it's a kid who illegally bet on his own team's football games and is trying to play regardless.

Pure lunacy

People will barely remember college football even happened in 100 years. There is no 'side of history'

if you have spent most of your life around the west texas oil money, you'd understand.
Well that and the rank and file Tech fan is trash.

I don’t agree with this as I’ve spent a good bit of time in west Texas, South Plains, and the panhandle. Most TT grads are really solid folks but have a chip on their shoulders from the perception and isolation factor of their university. Little man syndrome, if you will.

EDIT: doesn’t make most of them trash, for sure.

Well if people follow through and drop them from their schedule perhaps they will cave. Besides the court said the NCAA has to let them play, but can the NCAA now saay "fine, but any game he plays in will not count towards the CFP".

I've spent a lot of time in Lubbock- not by choice - and they all had a chip on their shoulder as soon as they found out where I went to school. I do think you're on to something about little man syndrome.

I think there is a workaround for this, but this specifically I don't think can be done because NCAA and CFP are separate entities right? Perhaps the CFP and NCAA can make a joint declaration

Sorry, blank on a name but their main oil money booster has openly bragged, a few yrs ago, that he wouldn't be outbid for any player and issued a warning, at the same press conference that : "I am coming for all your best players." He was in D.C. last week testifying against the regulatory bill that Sen Cruz et al had presented to the Senate.

The students can be trashy, the grads are good people. You nailed it though, they don’t like being seen as 3rd at best and loathe Texas and atm success and now that they can only pay whatever to get what they want they have adopted an us against the world mentality, middle finger to everyone else.

What would be nice is the cfp rules his games ineligible. As long as it can’t be challenged in the time to play in the cfp im all for it.

Feel bad for the other kids on that team who want to play ball without this distraction and will be horrible if their wins are ruled ineligible due to this

Why not. Just like Bama was dug in over the basketball guy. Only thing you can lose is what you dont have already. Why not dig in.
