re: Chips are down: Why is TTU dug in when they are clearly on the wrong side of history?

You do know that Sorsby has not bet on Tech sports nor even played a down for Tech.
Again, name calling is really juvenile. Your ut education has served you well.
" nor even played a down for Tech."
Bingo, but the second that changes, Tech is guilty.
Still waiting on that proof, by the way.
Since you can't find it, I’ll leave it here: if your argument requires ignoring the most important fact in the discussion, then you don’t have an argument. You have a coping mechanism with Wi-Fi.
I have better things to do than argue with someone who can't have an intellectually honest debate. Good luck with your stuff.

Let me get this straight, ut starts the Longhorn network and screws every other Big 12 school. ut paid players before it was legal to do so but that’s not doing the “right” thing. Got it.

You should be so lucky as to have my life with wi-fi as you say.

Go watch the 2024 Cincinnati vs WVU highlights on YouTube. He committed two turnovers in that game that are so bad that either he sucks beyond belief under pressure and not worth what they paid for him....or he was on the take in that game. On one he tossed the ball underhanded to a wide open WVU corner standing 10 yards or so in front of him for a pick six. Then he threw the ball backwards on another turnover.

Quit while losing. Got it.

You piqued my interest. I checked out the game. The turnovers were bang bang so unlikely intended to fix the game... but they were terribad turnovers.
This is the kind of tape that gets you a few mill as a rental?

The Black Sox come to mind and that lasted 100+ yrs before reinstatement.
The gambling world is much more advanced in 2026.
Ban him and all of the same ilk that jeopardize the already shaky ground of current athletics at all levels.
Or, put Pete Rose in the HoF

It is rather amusing seeing the nation finally getting a taste of just how trashy Tech is.
None of this behavior is new

To the OP: what are you trying to say with "chips are down"?
Do you mean- no trolling, just give an honest, best answer?
To those who compare this to the Alabama basketball player, or other pay-for-play situations:
This is fundamentally different. Those were attempts to bring in the best players in an effort to win. Sometimes they're skating the gray areas on the margins of eligibility (such as "well he never appeared in an NBA regular season game", etc). But trying to win by getting better players.
Texas Tech and Sorsby- this isn't about him being a good QB, or his NIL or portal stuff. This is about him gambling on college football, including games his own team played.
That's instant disqualification. Never been compromised on in the past, not in any sport. Lifetime bans.
Not a penalty for Texas Tech, other than they had tried to get him. He can't (shouldn't) go to any other college team either. TT should not be on the hook for any NIL deal, etc.
The fact that they're actively trying to keep him is bad. The actual school should say "ok, he got an injunction, fine and dandy. But he's admitted on the record to doing this, and therefore we will not allow him on our team. It's our team, we have control over it, not some court. He broke one of the few non-negotiable rules of the sport, and while we wish him well in his future, he will not be a part of our athletic program"

I feel like we are living in bizarro world. How in the frick would anyone think letting this guy play is good for the sport.
College football is upside down.

At the end of the day, the Big 12 is going to get one team in the playoff. No matter whom that team might be, hopefully all this drama and focus on Tech's crap schedule will make sure whatever team it is, they are ranked very low in the playoff. No bye and even better if it were Tech, make them be on the road.
Have Tech go to Georgia.
Have Tech go to Georgia.
