Yes.

I've never had to intervene as the two tailgates I attend welcome rival fans to stop by, have some food and drink. It's sad that people take sporting events so seriously they have to harass rival fans visiting their campus.

I have certainly apologized on behalf of LSU fans before, but never had to intervene really.

there were a group of LSU fans rocking a mini van occupied by a UF family that was stopped in traffic
That’s incredibly fricked up…..and yet I laughed

It wasn’t funny. That poor man and his family were terrified. I doubt they’ve ever been back. I did some stupid shite as a drunk college student but those guys crossed the line.

You and your boys who stopped it should be proud of yourselves. Felonious acts like this is way beyond anything acceptable between rival football fans

Done it multiple times at bars on the strip in Tuscaloosa for multiple fanbases.
Easiest way is to walk up, laugh and offer to buy the opposing fans a drink while telling them to laugh and put yourself between them and the drunk person who is messing with them.

Like had to tell a fellow (insert school here) fan 3 sheets to the wind to cut it out harassing either other fellow fans, or rival fans visiting on gameday?
Yes. Most home games. Younger Dawg fans are not experienced enough to piss in balloons without making a mess so I will piss in balloons and hand them out so they can enjoy the gameday traditions in Athens. I feel good when I know I am passing the torch, and a piss filled balloon, to future generations.
Younger Dawg fans are pretty efficient at snatching Auburn caps and setting them on fire though...I think that is steeped in our DNA.....

You know, the whole give a man a fish/teach a man to fish proverb can apply here
Why dontcha show the young boys how its done the right way so they won't have to rely on you? You know, if you really want to pass the torch to the younger generation

2001 Egg Bowl in Starkville
I was sitting in the MSU Student Section and a girl said that Wayne Madkin was better than Eli Manning and Ole Miss was about to lose the game. All the Old Charter in my system won't allow me to remember the things I said but my friends (both Ole Miss and MSU fans) saved me from getting my arse kicked by multiple Bulldog fans that night. In my defense, she was incorrect.
TL:DR
They intervened on my behalf and I was the one doing the harassing unfortunately. Live and learn.

It ain't something we do in public...its not a visual thing, when you have been doing it awhile you can do it in the stands, with 100s of folks around you, and no one ever know its being done. It ain't just boys, women do it as well...all DAWG fans do it, all you have to do is read these forums to know this. No one ever showed me, I just went home and practiced until I had it down pat. I guess its entirely possible that young male dawg fans and young female dawg fans show one another how to do it but that would be a crime....filling a balloon with piss and tossing it at opposing fans is only illegal in Athens if you ain't got the upbringing to fill the balloon where no one knows whats going on....

The time Georgia fans abused me
I had been attending the UGA-AU game 1999. I had to many beverages before the game. Auburn went up big. I knew I should leave so I tried my best to leave the stadium and get back to the Sigma Nu house. But I had become weakened by the drink so I found shelter at some bushes. I slept there hoping to return later to my friends. Instead a cruel mob of UGA fans found me. Weakene, I could profer, no resistance. The quickly realized I was incaple of movement. They put leaves and grass on me as they howled their evil delights. They removed my hat, that was from the 83 season that Pat dye had signed himself. They burnt it in front of me, myself being to weak to move or protest. I will always remember their evil cackle as they left me stranded, hatless.
