losing in the championship is a liability in the playoff, winning is a wash

the ideal position for a run at the NC is to just miss

If you do that, maybe Ole Miss can finally play in that game.

Why would you want to? I get what you're saying in regards to the playoffs, but it's the fricking SEC championship, that still means a ton in my book. Besides, we've been in that position quite a few times during our run.

We rest our players by earning a first round bye

It’s not a real championship lol the natty is all that matters. The Yankees aren’t out flaunting AL East championship rings lol it’s embarrassing.

I wouldnt mind some rule that protects the teams if they are ranked in say, the top 12 or so in most recent Committee rankings.

But then you'd probably get 2nd stringers playing the game (at least til the 3rd ir 4th Qtr rolled around.

On second thought- THAT would be really interesting!

They are going to create a huge mess if they penalize a team for losing a conference championship game. They have said they won’t penalize them. We will see.

ESPN will decide who is worthy... Thanks to Greg Sankey.

Alabama fans will ignore the writing on the wall until the very moment that it hits them square in the face.

Saban played his "RESPECT CARD" on the way out the door.

Now it will all be decided in a corporate office in Connecticut.

And who does Saban now work for?

I think it’s a fair question…

I’m sure this is explicitly in the bylaws, but I figure that league would designate it as a forfeit and wouldn’t want the precedent otherwise.

‘23 UGA undefeated going into SECCG. Lost and missed playoff.

‘24 UGA won SECCG but lost QB

So, yes, playing in the SECCG is an honor but it’s not particularly helpful.

That is exactly what Kirby Smart is thinking.

Kirby Smart really didn't expect to be playing in the SEC CG last season until Bama got curb stomped by Oklahoma.

The CCs are only good for the lesser team to get in the PO, if out going into the game. Other than that its now a worthless game.

Is it really? Reference 2011 and 2017. Arguably 2 of the best Alabama championships.

I wonder what would've happened if 2017 Auburn did this. They were #2 CFP and had double digit wins over both Bama and UGA.
