Interesting claim because some might not consider 1998 modern.

Who wouldn’t consider the BCS era modern football?

No. Any team that needed miracles to beat the weak arse 2015 uga team isn’t that.

Butch had a better winning % at Tennessee than Kiffin, Dooley, Hoke, Pruitt, and Heuple

When BAMA went into Knoxville in 2016 Tennessee was ranked #9 in the land, even after losing a tough one to TAMU. That vol team he brought into 2015 Tuscaloosa was very good and almost good enough to get the job done. What other head coach of the post "great pumpkin" era reached those heights?

Heupel would get a new contract and orange babies named after him if he gets all that done.

Anyone who considers Year 1 of the BCS to be 4 decades ago.

Anyone who understands Football was a completely different sport in 1998 than it is compared to today, which is now the modern game.

There was no miracles in 2015. Other than UT giving up double digit leads in multiple games in the 4th quarter that year. Only Miracles that year was Bama, Oklahoma and Florida coming back I. Under 3 minutes left in the game. But what other team in the land had to face Baker Mayfield, Derek Henry, Nick Chubbs, Sony Michel, Joe Mixon, and Sterling Shepard? Not many if any can navigate that schedule. But some how the Vols equaled every team that year talent wise, but was out coached
Here’s our losses in 2015

Oklahoma- 31-24 (2OT)- had lead 17-3 lead start of 4th and 17-10 lead with 40 seconds left on game. Baker Mayfield throws TD to send into OT.
Florida- 28-27- had 14 point lead with 10 minutes left in the game. Florida scores TD to take 28-27 lead with 1:30 left in game.

Arkansas 24-20- half time score was 17-17. Only game we lost that we didn’t have lead on the 4th or under 3 minutes left in the game.

Bama - 19-14- had lead against Derek Henry Alabama 14-13 with 3:00 left in the game. Bama scores go ahead TD with 2:24 left in game.

To just say that team wasn’t as good as anyone is just absurd. With a better coach that year UT may be in the playoffs instead of Bama.
Oh by the way, the Dobb Nail Boot happened in 2016. UT throughly beat UGA in 2015. Y’all was outscored in the 2nd half 21-7 that year. It was UGA that scored a meaningless TD to make the score look closer in the 4th quarter.

So folks that suck at math and are in middle school…

Decade is 10 years, BCS 1st title game was 1998. 24 years ago. How the hell do you get 4 decades out of 24 years? That Ga education is showing again.

And the standards were generally higher in the BCS era. UGA is still hearing 1980 jokes by BCS standards. Fulmer has multiple titles if we had the lower standards of the 4 team playoff in the 90s.

No wonder, your memory sucks arse…..

Vols needed heisman front runner nick chubb to suffer one of worst looking injuries ever recorded, and it happened early.

After that, vols needed for uga to miraculously drop a wide open 56 yard TD with under 4 minutes left. Game would have been tied up.

After that, after a miracle bounce punt, vols let uga drive down the field to get into scoring range, just to hang on by 1 score.

Zero titles is a much more likely scenario in an alternate universe.

#2 uga beats #1 Clemson for the 2017 title by BCS standards.

Uh, but we've won more than 10 on multiple occasions in the last quarter century, despite being dog shite for the vast majority of that time. So it isn't our ceiling. It's a ceiling for Ole Miss, or Kentucky, or Miss St. Sorry, your facts are opinions.

No they are facts.

2015 team was even better. Should've gone 11-1, only losing to Bama on the road 14-19.

No he doesn't.

93 don't make the cfp
94 don't make the cfp
95 #4 seed, good luck playing #1 Nebraska in the semi
96 don't make the cfp
97 no, y'all would've been the #3 seed playing #2 Nebraska and we saw how that turned out
98 #1 seed but would've had to play Ohio St in the 1st semi, maybe
99 don't make the cfp

Yeah, he had much better talent than any of those guys either thanks to a legacy filled and heavily instate class of 2014 and 2015. He wasn't a good evaluator at all and he wasn't even that good of a recruiter outside of that.

Also the player that actually did the load of leadership for those teams and kept Butch from getting fired was the same player he tried so hard to keep off the field and when he did play, Jones couldn't figure out a gameplan for him. Hell if Riley Ferguson not got injured in camp Butch would have played him over Dobbs. Then he tries to run the read option with Justin Worley all year but decides when we go on the road to Mizzou against their pass rush, to abandon it and have a freshman Josh Dobbs throw it 40 times. And that's just the tip of the fricking iceberg for his terrible coaching.

All you guys know is the record.

Kiffin and Jones were the best coaches at UT since the 1990's. Kiffin split in the middle of the night after one season and the idiots didn't give Jones time to fix the mess they are still in.

That's still three decades though.

Clemson won the championship in 2018-2019. Not a decade ago, but last decade. Florida won the championship in 2008-2009. Two decades ago. Tennessee won the 1998-1999 title. Three decades ago.

Jones had to go after he failed to win the East in 15 or 16 and then when the wheels fell off in 17.
