Nothing against any school in the conference, but twelve was the magic number. This new scheduling sucks with not playing non-divisional home and away for twelve years is insane. No conference should schedule that. It shouldn't have even been thought about.

No. As has been discussed ad nauseam, this hurts the 4 clubs who play annual ACC opponents, and keeps us from being able to play quality non-conference games. AU/Clemson, Utk/GT, USC/NC State, UGA/ND, etc don't happen with a nine-game conference schedule.
The conference is too big at 14 with conference divisions. If voluntary contraction isn't on the table, the scrapping of divisions must be.

What a bunch of quitters. Seems like whenever this topic has come up this season, every Arkansas poster now longs to be in the Big 12 again because Iowa and Kansas are closer than Louisiana and Mississippi? It's not geography, it's not the rivalries, it's not because you have only got to play Vandy 6 times (well maybe it is that). It's that you can't compete in the SEC and you would rather quit than working harder. If in 20 years the Big 12 gig doesn't work out, maybe the Sunbelt will still be around and you can have the big annual game with Arkansas State. Either hire an elite coach and quit sending out the message to recruits of "we can't compete and want to join an easier league" or go ahead and just save yourself 25 more years of embarrassment and join the Sunbelt.
Oh and yes, I realize as a GT fan that we quit the SEC 50 years ago, but it doesn't make what I said any less true. We don't blame that we don't finish in the top 10 every year on geography and not getting to play Syracuse every year. We are not going to pay a coach $7M a year and our fan base is content with 9 win seasons. We are content with being first known as an elite engineering school, you should either do something about your football program or be content with being first known for Walmarts and the crooked Clintons.
Oh and yes, I realize as a GT fan that we quit the SEC 50 years ago, but it doesn't make what I said any less true. I'm not sure it solves that problem. But I would rather see a ninth conference game, even at the risk of a quality non-conference game going away. All LSU does these days is play at neutral sites so if that game bit the dust, I'd be cool with it.
I wish the SEC would institute the Big Ten's rule of no FCS teams.
