One of his last years here, the LSU defense knocked out four starting quarterbacks in a row and another one later in the year. His LSU defenses were nasty and hit the shite out of opposing players. They destroyed people. They were the hardest hitting teams in LSU history and played with a mean streak, trying to tear the heads off ball carriers and went after quarterbacks like a tomahawk missile. Motherfrickers running slants across the middle were decapitated and running quarterbacks were hunted mercilessly and attacked with a vengeance, installing fear and terrorizing them as ball carriers.

They absolutely had some ferocious units. The general conversation the last 2 pages has been how that system and style will be tweaked to 2020 SEC offenses and officiating.

Will be interesting to see what he's been doing at Youngstown, as he plays against some of FCS' best teams in that league (NDSU, South Dakota, etc).

I’m interested to see how he will use 3-4 personnel in a 4-3 which I assume will be our base package with Bo

Shelvin and Ika are classic 3-4 NTs. The move will at least help with our LB attrition

Pelini is a dinosaur. Offensive football has changed completely since he was a coordinator calling plays

After years scrounging for 3-stars from Texas and Florida and then gritty kids at Youngstown I gotta believe he'll be like a kid in a candy shop with the athletes in his first defensive meeting.

He was the head coach in a good FCS league that has put multiple QBs in the NFL in the last decade.

I'm guessing he has some ideas. What will be interesting to watch is what those ideas are and how they translate.

He’s a whole 3 years older than Venables

You say this like he’s been doing nothing since 2007

I can't remember the timeline of when NDSU joined the MVC and when Bo got to YSU, but he coached against both Wentz and Garrappollo, right?

Isn’t he the same guy that told all his fans to go to hell when he coached Nebraska?

All gonna come down to the defensive line with him.

Those LSU units in the mid-aughts were loaded. Kyle Williams, Claude Wroten, Chase Pittman, Tyson Jackson, Glenn Dorsey.

He had talent deficiencies in Nebraska because Nebraska just isn't a premier destination anymore, but you'll notice he put the #2 defense by SP+ and #3 defense by YPP together in 2009. Who anchored that line? Ndamukong Suh.

He's gonna have better secondary talent than he's ever had to work with, even accounting for guys like LaRon Landry at LSU. His position specialty at LSU last time was linebacker so I have confidence there.

We have talent on the lines... not anything as otherworldly as the guys I listed, but very good players in their own right. If they can step up and be an elite unit, I think he can do well.

He does fine in the first 3 years, so just fire him after that.

Brady and Aranda were smoke screens. Ponamsky and O developed a “limitless” pill. Ponamsky eats them like skittles. It’s all in the binder.

His defense also let a team score more points in a home game than any other team in the last 112 years.

Wait, no, that was your defensive coordinator.

looks like 2011, so yes.

Garrappollo

He went to Eastern Illinois which is in the OVC. The MVC has Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, and Illinois St (wow, what a mouthful ) JG was also gone by the time Pelini got to Youngstown
quote:

Wentz

Wentz's last year at NDSU was Pelini's first at Youngstown, so he would have played against him once, yes

Edit: However, Wentz missed half the season his senior year, including the Youngstown game, so I guess the answer is no to him as well
