It seemed like he would have a good plan b or c ready, but if the other team had something he wasn’t expecting that’s where he ran into issues. He couldn’t come up with a plan d right then and there. Which makes sense as he’s a super deliberate guy.

Yep - I always liked him. Hope he does well in Baylor. His demeanor and overall management personality, from what I know, seems to be a good fit for a CEO role like head coach.

He’s always going to need ace recruiters on staff wherever he goes, that’s my one concern with him. He’s not a bad recruiter per se but he’s just not the biggest personality.

Yeah, it's really pleasant to listen to him talk about football. Clearly extremely intelligent. And based on his hires, coaches obviously want to work with him.

Honestly, that was always kind of one of the things I liked about him . You gotta have recruiters, and some recruiters are just naturally good at selling and are good folks, but for the most part those types are hired guns and sleazes .

I love Aranda's calm, intellectual approach to things. Maybe it's because it feels like something I can relate too (not being smart, but just the idea of approaching everything like a problem that needs to be solved).

He's just a really fascinating guy to me.

I don't see how LSU fans can't be somewhat concerned about this hire.

i about as pessimistic of an LSU fan as frequents this board, and im pretty fired up about the hire.

he was ELITE when he ran just defense with excellent talent level.

AND, he never had talent in the secondary like he is about to inherit.

This board shite all over Alabama hiring Kiffin in 2014. I wouldn’t value what this board thinks.

But I don’t think that’s what George was trying to do.

Would you rather discuss his win/loss record as a head coach

Well that's the thing George. What was O's record when he became HC at LSU ? Pelini is not a great recruiter. If O and Raymond continue to do their thing, the Pelini hire will be good imo. Aranda was a good DC but his total defense numbers got worse every season. Like any other hire no one knows if it will be a hit or not. Bama has had some hits and misses so we'll see how it works out. We'll attack more than Aranda did.

some actual defensive stats

Here's a stat you didn't mention. Bo Pelini never lost to Alabama while serving as defensive coordinator at LSU.

Not concerned with his defense at all. I'll ban bet that LSU allows less than 41 pts to Bama this upcoming season....

One of his last years here, the LSU defense knocked out four starting quarterbacks in a row and another one later in the year. His LSU defenses were nasty and hit the shite out of opposing players. They destroyed people. They were the hardest hitting teams in LSU history and played with a mean streak, trying to tear the heads off ball carriers and went after quarterbacks like a tomahawk missile. Motherfrickers running slants across the middle were decapitated and running quarterbacks were hunted mercilessly and attacked with a vengeance, installing fear and terrorizing them as ball carriers.
I can’t wait to see them make Mond cry.

Now do Nebraska’s defenses since he left. The fact that Nebraska was in the top 10 under him twice and hovered around the top 25 (just as good as Aranda in the past 2 years) is actually really impressive. You scared

Neither did Tommy Tubberville during those 3 years. Not sure what that has to do with 2020 Pelini schemes vs 2007 Pelini schemes

Seriously, do any of you "melt"/"you scared" people actually read threads before posting in them?
