Arkansas and USC needs to bounce. They bring nothing to our conference.

Going back, it would have been best for the PAC 10 to expand to 12 with Colorado and Utah sooner (both wanted to join, Colorado never felt like the rest of the Big 8).

Big 8 then adds Texas, Texas A&M, and Arkansas to form a solid 10 team conference. SEC stays at 10 teams.

South Carolina joins the ACC. The Northeast created a league with Penn St joining instead of Big10.

We are on our 8th season in the SEC. Get over it already.

Finally someone who understands the realignment strategy. ESPN wanted the KC and St. Louis market for the SEC network. A&M obviously for the Texas market. The Big 10 network money is bigger than the SEC even with the additions, without Mizzou and A&M the SEC network would be paying out about the same as the ACC. Advertisers buy market penetration and the Big 10 was winning big. ESPN told Sankey to get Mizzou and A&M to keep the network competitive.

You can thank our former president Bernie Machen too. He grew up in St Louis and was a huge proponent of adding Mizzou.

They are here now, they are part of the SEC family now and these year ‘round non-stop threads will do nothing to change a got damn thing.

I don’t think the Aggie weirdos should be in any conference. Maybe just make them play the service academies. They are a wannabe service academy anyway and a wannabe SEC school. Miserable at both

The Dissolution of the Big 8

The Big 2, I mean Big 8, was almost as Big of a joke of a conference as the current Big 2.0, I mean Big 12.

The B12 came about because Texas was looking to go to the PAC, and A&M to the SEC in the waning days of the SWC. The other schools in Texas got wind of it (Baylor and Texas Tech), and the Governor (BU grad) made a play to block both from leaving the SWC

Instead of joining their respective conferences, the B12 was born by merging the four schools with the B8. The rest of the SWC schools such as SMU, Houston, and TCU were left to fend for themselves as a result

Ironically, A&M ended up joining the SEC years later anyway, despite the objections of the Texas legislature, and again with the objections of BU specifically, and the other B12 teams from Texas. At that time, Dodds decided to "ostracize" A&M, and forbid other teams from scheduling them as a result

Mizzou seems to have lost all their energy without an archrival. Guess more money can't replace 100 years of excitement. Basketball was much more interesting with them in the Big 12.

Quite frankly, Arkansas, South Carolina, Missouri, and Texas A&M have each had limited success in the SEC, but they've failed to perform well and make a big splash for the league at the national level.

West Virginia being in the Big 12, which has 10 teams, is about as dumb as it gets. I miss the Big East for hoops.

WVU honestly hasn't been terrible, at least in comparison to the rest of the conference and some of the teams that left. But I agree that the Big East basketball season, especially the tournament, was one of the coolest things ever that I dearly miss

The conference still having the name "Big 12" despite having only 10 teams is a huge joke. Either add two more teams or change your freaking name.

Iowa State doesn't have baseball, so there's only 9 in that sport
