There are reports on twitter than Clemson and FSU are gonna be going to the big 10 pretty soon. Assumed people had been keeping up, I guess not.

Sankey is getting cucked by the big10 commissioner. Wish we still had Slive.
I could not have said it any better. The Sankey continues to play tik tac toe while the B1G is playing chess.

The SEC and Sankey is running rings around the Big Ten. Yes the Big Ten may (and that is not even certain) make more money, but the truth is you play sports for titles.
The Big Ten since 1970 has won
3 football titles and 6 basketball titles
During that time the SEC has won
21 football titles and 7 basketball titles
If the Big Ten is playing chess, they play it like all their others sports, they suck at it.

I think I read the SEC's TV deal makes more per school than the B10 in a few years down the road. Is that true?

Its going to be miserable for USC and UCLA having to travel to say Indiana for baseball series and the next week travel to Maryland.
There is a reason geographical conferences work.

This is an intelligent thought. The Prize is UNC/Duke and Raleigh/North Carolina. I worry about Georgia allowing Tech in again. And Miami is a big market, but technically Florida should carry some % there already so not sure if TV rights deals would add much value. Now, getting into Virginia somehow and the DC area, that would make Sense. And the boldest move of all? How about the #36 media market that is in a city sitting right on the boarder with a SEC member state but is in another state that would hit really close to the Heart of the Big10? With a historically good basketball program and recently in the College Football Playoffs? None other than.... Cincinnati!!!

The SEC and Sankey are being run around chairs by the Big Ten

If the Big Ten is looking to already go beyond 16, then it likely means this a response to expected SEC growth beyond Texas and Oklahoma.
The Big Ten has already kicked the tires on Washington and Oregon and didn't see where the numbers added up to extend an invitation. They will now vet Cal and Stanford, but the answer may be the same. They are also making it clear that they won't make any move in that direction unless the Pac-12 falls apart, meaning that they are waiting for someone else to join Colorado in moving to the Big XII before they consider doing anything.
At the end of the day, I just don't think the money is there to add more teams. The only way to do it is to either get the new teams to take significantly less money, or for the existing schools to take less than they were expecting. Neither seems likely to me.

I don't think Florida State and Clemson would make the most sense for the SEC. Solid football programs, but the SEC doesn't really need to bolster its football prowess at this point. They don't bring anything to the table in basketball. And most importantly, they're in small media markets.
Now consider adding the following four schools to the SEC: Miami, Georgia Tech, Duke, and UNC. None of these programs are going to bring much to football (which, again, isn't really needed). The SEC would get a massive boost in basketball with Duke and UNC, and would have one of the most coveted rivalries in all of college sports.
But more importantly, look at the major media markets that the SEC adds with those schools: Miami, Atlanta, and Raleigh-Durham. The SEC suddenly becomes a significantly stronger basketball conference and captures three of the largest TV markets in the country.
Florida State and Clemson can't offer that.
You make a very reasonable point.

One of the funnier outcomes in all of this, to me, is how totally fricked Clemson and FSU are.

CFB has never been more crazy. Even knowing your team is secure in the SEC, it is still unsettling to see so much rapid change. Rest easy everyone. Texas will tell Sankey what to do and everything will be fine.

Screw the Big 10, the SEC doesn't NEED to add anyone but getting UNC and Virginia would be smart.

The PAC-12 has already fallen apart. Not to mention they're the ones that killed the conference by going after USC and UCLA.
If they were willing to drive the knife through the heart of the conference, they're going to be more than willing to pick up the pieces of what's left.
The fact that Thamel and McMurphy are reporting on all of this now means it's been in development for a while and is close to being done.

The SEC already has the Atlanta media market

So you don't have a link proving a "SC guy told (you)" that?
Go figure.
That's what I thought.
It's the world we live-in these days apparently.
