So now that we clearly see that Texas, Oklahoma, and A&M are the reason the Big 12 will stay together, who would you say are the 3 most powerfull schools in the SEC as far as athletics go.

1. Alabama
2. Tennessee
3. Florida

I replaced LSU with TN because TN has been historically better than LSU. LSU is better now, but it hasn't been that way for long.

That's what is unique about the SEC. The 3 mentioned could obviously wield more power than the other 9 but the SEC treats everyone equitably. For instance, unlike Kansas State sits hovered in the corner worrying whether or not Texas is going to take them along for the ride, MSU, Ole Miss or Vandy don't worry too much about whether or not Florida or Alabama are going to go out and cut their own deal. The SEC is what it is because of that stability, IMO.

For some reason, people tend to forget that, besides the 90's, LSU has always been a steady program.

I don't know that one is more powerful than the other. Florida and LSU have had the most overall success as of late, and Bama has been up there in football. However, I don't think if one or two individual schools decided they were goign to go off somewhere else that the league itself would be in danger of collapse like what we saw with the Little10.

Are we just talking football here or overall? Either way...its UF, LSU, bama. I don't see how anyone care argue against any of those 3.

I took it to mean overall because the op said "athletics," and did not limit it to football. And if we're going overall athletics, UGA has to be in the mix.

Thank you. LSU comes in 4th or 5th. Sorry Boudreaux's.

I disagree. I think its Florida, LSU, UGA. Look at LSU's accomplishments in the Big 4 sports the last 10 years and explain how they can be left off that list.

Speaking purely in political terms; UT is still pretty relevant.
