the great thing about the sec is that, yes, there are some big names, but there are no "big dogs."

the sec is set up with equal distribution of funds and, as much as message board fans seem to revel in conspiracy theories, there is no big daddy texas-like-team calling the shots in our league..

and that is why texas will eventually kill yet another conference..they are toxic to their league--there are no checks and balances, texas gets the king cake (with the baby guarenteed) and the rest of the bevho's get the crumbs..and have to say it is the best thing they ever tasted, would love another piece...

mike slive is one smart, devious, far thinking sob...

Does anyone on this board think that the people making these decisions are going to get out the NCAA record book and count fricking gymnastics titles??

. BTW, please don't claim that 1936 Title in basketball...It was awarded by the American Legion..seriously

If Bama can accept a Golden Flake football NC, then LSU can certainly claim an American Legion NC in basketball. I mean, who are we kidding here? 13 NC's in football?

This is like the third or fourth time I have heard this in a week on here. Just curious, but what gives you this impression?

Miami has practically no fan base. FSU had a loyal base, but a lot of support has sort of evaporated over the past decade.

UF dominates the state in the news, in merchandise, in TV coverage, alumni, etc., and always has. Nothing has changed.

I have to believe people who would think this have not spent a great deal of time in Florida.

this.

and it is not even close.

miami is a tiny school and most of their grads i would say go back north after completing their studies.

fsu is the third largest school in the state. they will be playing catch up forever.

This guy is smart, football dominates all other sports in income from tickets/donations and TV contracts.

Right now I see the big dogs of the SEC as:

1. Florida - Recent history, is taking over the 4th largest state in the Union
2. Bama - History, will always have a large following
3. LSU - OWNS LA, huge fan base in main metro areas of East TX
4. UT - OWNS TN, and competes with another SEC school in state
5. UGA - Atlanta Metro Area, enough said.

Things change, but this is how it is right now. All about TV markets.

UF has market share in Florida obviously, but Miami has more fans in state than UF does. The reason you've heard it repeated on this board is because it's true.

Most of Uf's fans come from band wagon hopping losers across the nation.

This could be the most ridiculous thing ever said on a message board from someone not named Wholeo or CPA.
