How many of these wins were retroactively reclaimed as wins?

Why is LSU's total number of games so low?

So you quit playing Bama right when Bear was getting his dynasty rolling at Bama? You just made UGA look even worse by trying to defend them

Quit playing Bama when Bear showed up, only played VOLS regularly from 1990-onwards.

Auburn didn't play Alabama from 1907 to 1948. During that span Alabama was 2nd in wins behind only Notre Dame with 266 victories and several national titles. Auburn was tied for 41st with 196 victories. Had they played those years Auburn would be further behind than they are now.

edit to include the stassen link

LINK

edit again to note Tennessee at #4, Texas A&M at #8, and Vanderbilt at #10

Scared.

Don't blame us that Mississippi fell off the face of the Earth after integration. They had the best record in the country from 1950-1970.

Interesting LSU schedule facts:

Paul Bryant became HC at Kentucky in 1946, coincidentally Kentucky starts showing up on LSU's schedule every year.

Paul Bryant became HC at A&M in 1954, coincidentally A&M starts showing up on LSU's schedule every year.

Paul Bryant became HC at Alabama in 1958, coincidentally Alabama starts showing up on LSU's schedule every year.

From 1946 to 1992, LSU's top opponents were (# of games):

Mississippi (48)
State (47)
Tulane (47)
Kentucky (43)
Alabama (38)
Florida (37)
Rice (36)
A&M (29)

Missouri would get my vote ahead of A&M to replace Tennessee as one of the Big 6 should it get to that.

Ok so do the chart for the parallel universe where everything is exactly the same except Bama never started a football team. Did we jump to first?

Difference here is really just the number of times each team has played Bama.

Florida avoided VOLS during their heyday and Bama altogether. Same w/Georgia.

AU did not have to play Alabama from 1908-1947. From 1923-1947 Bama was about as dominant as during the Bryant and Saban eras. That was the Wade and Thomas eras. Both won over 80% of their games. Bama has had 5 coaches who won over 80% of their games at Alabama (6+ years), the rest of the SEC combined has 3: Neyland, Spurrier and Meyer.

Cool link!

Here's the same info for 30 years before the '92 expansion.

1962-1992

Now I'm depressed.

They are a great program in their own right. We're just a better, more compelling story.

32.30%- Arkansas (36-76-1)
27.27%- Texas A&M (6-16-0)
26.70%- S. Carolina (27-75-1)
20.06%- Kentucky (64-267-8)

I see one team that has had a lot of bluster on the rant with no results to back it up.

You’d think with all that talk you read on the rant that Aggie would hold at least a 50:50. But that record (6-16) is even worse than their overall vs LSU (21-33) Yet claiming big brother status.

I keep telling em, BEGGING for respect will get you the opposite result.. Wait in line, go win, and let the respect flow in. Or don’t .

Meh,

The east has historically been pretty bad. I mean, how many times since 1992 has Vandy or Kentucky beaten UF or UGA? I mean, those two have not really been challenged in the last two decades (unless you count the gerry rigged Mizzou success under the "bridge" scheduling scenario.

If you count Tennessee's historically bad run in the last 20 years then it is even more pronounced. Missouri wasn't exactly a strong addition compared to A&M. South Carolina, despite great fans and a very good run by the old ball coach, is basically an average team.

Here is my take listed in 6 levels:
1
Bama
2
UF
UGA
LSU
Aub
3
A&M
4
Tenn
Ole Miss
Mizzou
Moo State
Arkansas- a current dumpster fire
South Carolina
5
Kentucky (pretty solid now)
6
Vandy

Another note, while the gumps have been VERY successful, they played Moo State exclusively in Tuscaloosa only for what...5 or 6 decades? I would imagine that they won most of those. Stuff like that skews something as simple as win percentage or total wins. Context matters imho.

To note Mark Twain:

There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics.
