D1 starting to punish the SEC a little. No longer an SEC stranglehold at the top.

They’re just setting up the “can’t have too many SEC national seeds” conversation.

It never fails. Someone will get fricked out of a Super and out of hosting a regional because they need “more up north”.

Need to break up the stranglehold to promote the sport.

How do you figure? SEC still has 3 of the top 5 teams in the country according to D1. And half the top 10 is from the SEC.

South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Kentucky did it to themselves.

Damn, only 3 SEC teams in the top 5 and 5 in the top 10.

Such heinous persecution of the entire conference! SEC fanbases should march.

I don’t disagree that the NCAA often invents ways to get more hosts up north and out west but the SEC getting dinged after the last couple weekends seems fair to me

It's still the best by far, but not 5 of the top 7 and the #1 slot like it was most of the season.

A lot of these teams can beat one another in any given series. We were lucky to beat SC at home in a rubber match before closing the season at Vandy(which I’ll be glad if we manage to not be swept). Most of us have a lot of injuries too. I’ll take where we are now in terms of making post season, but I hope we don’t get too high and peak in the SEC tourney.

Maybe in the rankings, the top 14 should just reflect the SEC conference standings and then from 15 onward have Wake Forest followed by all other non SEC peasants.

Bama's RPI is 11 with the 13th hardest schedule. How are they not in the top 25?

So is this what we are probably looking at heading down the home stretch:

National Seeds: Arkansas, Florida, LSU
Host a Regional: South Carolina, Vandy, Tenn
Decent Two Seed: Kentucky, Bama, Auburn
On the Bubble: Texas AM
Make the SECT: Mizzou, UGA
Hit the Lake House: Miss St, Ole Miss

Matters little if you are beyond 16 but keeping an 11 (assuming the committee agrees with that ranking) will put in an easier #2 in one of the Regionals. Warren Nolan also has you at 11 and I think the NCAA and Nolan are pretty close.
