Minnesota and the New York/Boston area are slammed with horrible baseball weather until April. Nebraska cancelled their baseball program, and Iowa only has State Championships in July for High Schools.

South Bend is very open to every sport, but Northern Indiana isn't exactly the best place to live at the moment. Wages are too cheap in the rust-belt.

Never settle for less than $22.00/hour up there.

I suppose this is the South's fault too?

They are trying to fit it into an academic calendar
Would love to move baseball later
Later start would impact summer leagues which are just as important from a MLB draft perspective than the college seasons

It is already an unpopular sport

Always hilarious seeing this comment in juxtaposition to the growth the game has experienced over the last 10 years. College baseball post season is one of the best manicured products in all of sports. It's sustainable and isn't corrupted nearly like football or basketball. It the last true bastion of collegiate sports. Enjoy it for once.

So you're saying we should push baseball season back until May, at which time most universities have already had exams and most students have gone home for the summer, because it's cold in some parts of the US?

Cool, I'll pass this up the chain of command.

Same. I would love to see Mizzou and the local programs do well. It's bad enough CFB is dominated by the South, in baseball, it's them plus the west coast.

Minnesota dudes LOVE baseball, but it is "cancelled" if they can't do it in February. The fields are 3 feet under. It sucks.

Sounds like they don't love it enough

It won't thaw out until May for most teams.

Where? This isn't fricking Canada.
Even Misery will be thawed out by next month.

The SEC dominates warm weather sports since there's warmer weather year round. News at 11.

Not sure why high schools and lower leagues feel the need to start early. They can do whatever they want and aren't bound by any national body or tournament structure.

Baseball, from the attention standpoint actually starts with Spring Training (the last week in Feb.). That's when the media starts to crank it up!....so to the nation, that's when baseball starts.

Nebraska cancelled their program.

They literally demolished the sport.

The Big-10 made them get it back with upgrades to their field.

Nebraska has had a baseball team every year since World War II ended.
