Same narrative.

Texas A&M (and Marcel Reed) can’t control anything but what’s in front of them, not what anyone else has done or hasn’t done.

He only wins if he puts up JFF numbers against Utrans and Alabama

That is exactly what I meant.

Reed honestly has no chance, but there does have to be a third

The Heisman is essentially a media creation, and Mendoza has been in the limelight all year and has been giving CEO level responses to every public interview. The IU story in general is a compelling one that plays well all over the country. He has an easy path to the award.

For all of Ohio State's success this year, they have been out of focus. No one seems to talk about them ever. Same for A&M.

Maybe the Big 10 title game will sway some last minute voters if Mendoza completely implodes but that didn't seem to matter for Caleb Williams in 2022 after USC got crushed by Utah in the Pac 10 title game.

It's really not about numbers it's about moments. The numbers are basically a wash between Sayin, Reed, and Mendoza especially when you consider competition. None have crazy stats and none have bad stats.

Sayin has 2 games left people will care about against Michigan and Indiana. He is a great QB and the most accurate passer in CFB, dude just throws dimes. The knock for him is he is surrounded by talent and he basically just gets to sit back with no pressure and make throws to All American WRs against teams that suck. He doesn't run the ball and he's not a big personality. He basically gets the "QB of the #1 team" vote.

Mendoza has some sizzle. Bigger personality and has a Heisman moment at Penn State (though ironically that was MUCH MORE about his WR than him, really wasn't even a good throw). Still he is an easy guy to root for and Indiana has the underdog thing going for him. He needs to show out against OSU though. If Indiana loses without much drama I think he will have a hard time winning it. I also think that is exactly what happens, OSU is a better team than Indiana and Indiana has thrived on running up numbers on teams that can't stop them. The Oregon win was nice but Oregon is not that great, people are acting like this is the Oregon of previous years and they just aren't.

Reed has the most sizzle. He is a great personality and is electric running the ball. He has 2 "Heisman moment" level highlights with the TD against ND and the long TD run against LSU with players grabbing air trying to tackle him. He's also the most up and down of the 3, no better evidenced than the USC game. He's got 2 big opportunities though against Texas and the SECCG potentially, he leads the team to a couple of W's and a 13-0 season he's going to have a hell of an argument.

Pavia, King, and Stockton are all good candidates but likely will come up short though any could get invites to NYC. Pavia wasn't able to win the big games he needed this year and showed flaws. King is a great story and maybe if he finds a way for GT to beat UGA he changes his narrative but I don't see that happening, GT just isn't that good and has won a lot of close games against bad teams. Stockton has made a nice late run but he has the same issue as Sayin, essentially the QB on a really good team surrounded by talent. He also isn't likely to get a chance to play in the SECCG.

As for Hardy he's a great back but Missouri hasn't done anything of note and most people don't even know him nationally. If there is a RB that makes a run it would be Love from ND but that's not happening either.

That may be true but just last week people were posting shite about Aggy schedule being terrible. They can only beat who’s on the schedule. Did you expect Penn State to suck in the big ten? Most people had them ranked number 2. Did you expect Bama to lose to Free shoes?

SEC and Big Ten Championship on the 6th
Voting ends and Final Four for the Heisman announced on the 8th

One of the Big Ten qb's could lose their chance to win in a blowout.
Reed demolishes Texas and wins the SEC Championship.

Reed is a distant 3rd. He would need Heisman moments in both Horns and SECCG, and probably need both Mendoza and Sayin to stumble

Just a question, aren’t the conference championship games before the ballots are required to be in? Will probably depend on these.

until Reed improves his long ball accuracy, he has no place in this discussion.

Why should they be rewarded because the media was wrong in the preseason before any games were played? Punishing for the schedule being soft after we have the data makes way more sense.

It's more to the point of the individual players being considered above players who have played much tougher schedules.

I'm not saying a QB with a rating of 110 who plays a tough schedule should win the Heisman over a QB with a rating of 190 and an average schedule; however, if a player runs for 2000 yards against a Big 12 schedule and another runs for 1600 yards against an SEC schedule, then the 1600 yards are better - but the kid with 2000 yards will get the attention.

This isn't me saying we should punish the players who play a weaker schedule; this is about saying we SHOULDN'T punish players who play against highly ranked defenses every other game vs a player who plays one or two top 50 defenses all season.

I think it is Mendoza’s trophy to lose at this point.

Personally think Reed has missed too many deep throws this year to be in the Heisman discussion.

Very good year but not a Heisman finalist year.

Maybe so. I don't have a feel for it. But others seem to disagree. Pate predicted Reed to win it yesterday.

Probably Mendoza wins it

I think the winner of the B1GCG wins it assuming it is OSU/Indiana.

Sayin should be winning this thing in a landslide as he is the all time leader in completion % by almost 2.5% if he stays where he is now.

It is pretty strange that Mendoza's Heisman moment, and Reed's to a lesser extent, are because they put their own team into a bad position that then had to be "saved". So it's better to have a terrible half or 3 quarters then have a great half or drive to win a game than it is to be good the entire game and the team never need saving
