You don't understand African culture.

Not attention whores; it's culture

quote:

Glistening chains, diamonds, and other flashy jewelry serve as a visual symbol of a football player/artist's success and achievement, a physical manifestation of the wealth and status they've earned through their sport/music — the ultimate flex.

These pieces of jewelry act as a reminder not only of their own success but also of their journey to get there, the obstacles they've overcome, and the sacrifices they've made.

The legendary Pimp C once implied that since the purveyors of the black art form are descendants of African Kangs, it only makes sense that we would like "shiny things."

You can say what you want to say about a guy like Kiffin but he reached his limit with arguably the best RB in college football and let him walk. I feel like DeBoer would let these guys do whatever they want.

It’s not that the sky is falling in Alabama. It’s that DeBoer is such a 100 % different personality from Saban. I like many fans were willing to give him a chance. We all know he was not going to win every game this year but no one imagined this team performing like it has the last 2 games.

This coaching staff seems unable to motivate, make necessary in game adjustments, and generally decide what the teams identity should be both offensively and defensively.

I am hoping that DeBoer uses this unusual defeat to grab this team by the throat and shake them into reality.

Bama’s culture is just fine. We have a new captain and crew at the helm of this aircraft carrier and they have not understood yet how to operate it at its highest potential. We shall see in the coming weeks if DeBoer has that ability.

Tacky and silly. Looks like something you’d see from that circus in Boulder.

I’m a white guy who grew up around a lot of black folks in a midwestern city in the 1980’s and ‘90’s. Moved out to the suburbs for HS but still kept in touch with a lot of people from the city in high school. This was the brim for the football players to be wearing a lot of bling during the games. And not these mock turnover chains that you see now. Also the baseball teams were 50 % white and the other half a mix of black and Puerto Ricans. The chains were big in the baseball players as well.

Of course the games had to be played in the afternoon because at night, the gangs would start shooting during the actual games and put spectators and players at risk. I can’t sit there and tell you the chain bling culture had a lot to do with it, but it doesn’t help either.

Things like this make me think that watching a club football team made up of actual students playing other schools down at the rec field would be more rewarding. What a fricking joke this all has become.
I've tried to explain this to people who think the players are why the fans watch college sports so, therefore, they should be paid.

Usually after rolling my eyes at their comp!ete cluelessness, I tell them that I don't love Auburn because of Bo Jackson, Pat Sullivan or Charles Barkley. I love those guys BECAUSE of Auburn.

I honestly truly believe that an Iron Bowl played between actual students at Auburn vs actual students at Bama would still be a sellout if the better players chose to play in a minor league. The amateur students would be playing in front of sellouts while the newly professional players would be playing in front of 20,000 or so fans with no allegiance to the teams.

NO MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL TEAM will ever have a fanbase rivaling even the smallest of college programs (South Alabama, Georgia Southern, etc). Passion/traditions cannot be forced. They develop over an extended period of time.

The clueless people that support paying players will never understand that it is not sustainable and will destroy college sports if not brought under some control which is currently nonexistent. I am not including using NIL if used as it was truly intended to be. However, it as been abused by everyone ever since it was approved.

When did looking cool become more important than doing your job on the field?

All the mouth pieces hanging down, one sleeve, no knee pads, on and on.

Lineup and execute. That’s football. Choreographed celebrations are nonsense.

Enthusiasm is great, but celebrate with TEAM, not by yourself.

Self control and discipline are part of football. Vanderbilt had ZERO turnovers and only 3 penalties. They lined up and did their job. Celebrated together after the game.

When Coach Bryant was at Alabama- he maintained discipline. The players did not make a mockery of representing the University.

Moore should be fined and suspended. He lacks self control, discipline, and IF you walk up and kick a football which is ready for play the NFL is not going to tolerate that crap.

The only sad part is it takes someone else off of the field who could be doing something more important. Each only gets a certain number that can be on field.

You have to feel comfortable and be confident in yourself enough to be able to withstand them not liking you and going elsewhere. But, you have to remain firm and many of those young people who buck against you will come back to you and love and respect you b/c you didn't bend and you showed them morals and real leadership.

This all used to work before people started handing out participation trophies. And the culture shows it. Now, these guys are making 6 figures coming out of high school and can walk at any time they want. The coach, whoever it is, has very little control.

Sometimes you have to give players just enough freedom to show them that being to lackadaisical gets you humbled. And that's what happened. So, now the team has a choice. Put your head down and go to work. Or give up on everything they wanted to accomplish. I guess we'll see where their head is at this Saturday. And I'm sure it's been discussed among the coaches and the team, being classless will stop.

I don't know why it's the quiet part. Ghetto culture is a plague on society pushed by intelligence agencies to keep people ignorant and dependent on government through glorification of soulless concepts like pride, getting mine and that anyone who has good morals and values things like education is a chump. Football and college should be about removing these qualities to give them a future, not the other way around. So I wouldn't say it angers me, but I would rather see players who have the right priorities too.

I cannot upvote this enough!

This will not end well for DeBore or the Bama football team. He better get a handle on this bullshite or he will lose the fans along with the team. When he loses the fans his tenure at Bama will be over.

There are an awful lot of assumptions going on here and some of them are a horrible look for the person making them.

The first is that he is holding someone else’s chains. They may be his. They may be someone else’s. Without further information it is an assumption either way.

The second assumption, and this is one that looks bad, is that the chains belongs to someone into “ghetto” culture. The vast majority of people who live in “ghettos” don’t have chains like that because of the cost. Most wouldn’t have one if they had the money. Had it been “urban” or “street” culture it would have been bad but less bad. It speaks volumes about the actual reason this would trigger so many snowflakes. Sad.
