Bama fans, how do you feel about the BDS revamp?

I started a thread on the rant highlighting Bama's planned reno and more broadly speaking, the trend of downsizing in college football in favor of more amenties. I think ultimately this is where we're all headed

I guess the one "downside" of all the winning Bama has done is that they can cater to a higher paying clientele. We've come to the point of ripping out part of an upperdeck in favor of more limited access club seating. It's a unique idea and a cool feature on its face. But the offsetting action of that is you boot more of the "common fans" in favor of the big buck guys who want to sit in their cushy seat and leave at half time. Then the environment becomes more corporate and like a posh NFL stadium rather than a rowdy college football stadium that these places were 25+ years ago.

Like I said, I like the upperdeck open space and the stacked loge boxes. Cool ideas but not the most accessible for moat fans. Serious question... do some of yall get a bit nostalgic for what used to be? U guess concern over the atmosphere being a little more muted than it used to be before the age of luxury suites and such.

Also...I don't like the new facade? Looks like Soldier Field

I think it's going to be awesome, and I like the facade change. It's hard to tell what is going to look like in real life from a static image of a render. I think it's going to be very impressive in person. The picnic area beneath the screen is for students only I'm pretty sure

“It’s hard to tell what is going to look like in real life from a static image of a render”

Isn’t this the entire point of a render?

AU is doing this as well. Actually, it is a trend in all of sports. Have a 25k general seat MLB stadium, but load it with suites, premium box seats, restaurant's, etc. Kind of like going to the opera 300 years ago. It is a social event, unlike a cheap sporting event most of us grew up with.

I don't like it at all. I don't like anything Tuscaloosa has done in the last 5 years. School is too big and stadium has NFL feel.

That bottom render looks worse than LSUs south side abortion

Yeah its not a great look to rip up a part of the stadium they just built 8 years ago. But if anybody has got the money to do it, it's Bama. Plus they'll definitely get more revenue out of this new set up.

I don't say many great things about Alleva but he and his crew were at least more forward thinking to not build a huge upper in the south expansion

I dont like the look of that scoreboard, but I doubt it ends up looking like that.

But people think it is downsizing to become more corporate are wrong. People just arent going to games as much anymore, and thankfully Alabama is doing well right now and doesnt suffer from that like most teams do. But eventually they will, and having an empty upperdeck is a bad look. Plus there is demand for more suits/zones, so a few club level and field level seats will be changed. The biggest changes will be making the concourses nicer, which obviously equals shorter lines, nicer restrooms, etc.

I think they overpaid for construction of those SS upper endzone seats anyway. I've noticed lots of empty seats in that section (& NN) the past couple of years. Just too many seats for regular folks & they believe not enough for the high rollers. I guess they're easily getting their premium prices for the box seats & feel the need to increase capacity there.
Those seats are for freshman and sophomore students that show up for ten minutes then get ADD and leave to go play Fortnite. Theyll still be able to get tickets if they need something to put on Instagram.

I'm glad all of the changes are functional. We needed larger concourses, more restrooms, a larger scoreboard, etc. I love the modern design of the exterior and the new locker room entrance from the Walk of Champions.

I really really really wish LSU would've used the $80 million improving the existing stadium and game day experience than expanding the south endzone

But do the bathrooms work? Last time I was there, the place had a plumbing failure.

I think it’s comical because all I’ve heard from Bama fans is they hate our huge arse Jumbotron and they’d much rather have the four small screens around the stadium.

Now they’re getting rid of the smaller ones and they’re gonna have one huge arse one

no it's not. This has nothing to do with students. Even if it did, there were seats set aside for students in the upper south that they NEVER used. EVER...and I don't blame them. However, Instead, they jammed in the south lower to the point to where you couldn't see the aisles. You think they are gonna go up to the terrace? If they did then they wouldn't bother watching the game. If Bama set that aside for students then it will be empty. We have the lamest student section in the SEC as is. I surely wouldn't build a terrace for these folks to be even more insignificant.

That's got to be the next project. I love Tiger Stadium but it's like walking through a dungeon. The concourses need some rehab

Tiger Stadium could be so nice. I know it costs money, but if seems like they always avoid the main issues. It feels like 70% of the stadium isnt even used and youre cramped in.
