they hate our huge arse Jumbotron and they’d much rather have the four small screens around the stadium.

I love everything about it. The video does is much better justice than stills. The tunnel walking in is just sick and love the big screen area.
They had to combine basketball and football upgrades into one campaign in order to get the basketball upgrades at all.

quote:I meant the seats being taken out have a lot to due with the students. I know it is going to affect season ticket holders in the actual areas where the concrete will be removed, but theyll have seats. Regarding the money, there is a reason they are doing it now and it is being directed through a capital camppaign. Theyre not just taking out a random $~600mm loan.
No they're not, with the exception of SS 1-5 or so. And then, it's only a number of lower rows I believe. There are lots of tickets available in those areas for Missouri & Miss State, both of which will at least field competitive teams.
But for a regular guy to take his family, it's going to run him $450. That's too much money for most of the sidewalk fanbase. Then, a lot of those NN & SS season seats are already bought by brokers, meaning the athletic dept is competing w/ current customers for future potential customers.
We overbuilt SS seat-wise, and assuming the market stays the same, it's still going to take what, two decades to repay those loans?

I think it's smart and it's obviously the direction to go.

I wonder if Aggie wishes they had gone in a different direction with their expansion rather than just a huge upper deck full of bleacher seating. I rarely see that area full.
I'd think Kyle Field could do something similar to Bama in that upper deck. Due to the angle, it's got a pretty good proximity to the field for an upper. Unlike Bama, there's not multi levels of suites under the deck, so they could do something with better views.

Isn’t this the entire point of a render?
Nothing has been approved by the board of trustees yet. There is a set of aesthetic and architectural standards in place for all renovation and new construction on campus.
I hope they don't grant a variance for this vision of BDS. It's reminiscent of the monstrosity that Soldier Field has become. That facade would be a blight on campus.

The reduction in general seating (mostly from the student section that wasn't full for many games) and adding a half dozen premium areas is a money grab for another revenue stream.
Other parts, like the recruiting deck, renovated recruiting room, and the tunnel leading underground into the locker room lined with LED walls were all purely recruit driven.
Nether of which are a bad thing.
As far as looking too much like a pro stadium, it really doesn't matter that much. It has a nice mix of modern and traditional.
Many of these areas are being built with the idea that they can hold events there. Which will be yet another revenue stream.
That terrace will be a popular locale corporate events.

As an alumni and season ticket holder for 25 years, I gotta be honest and say this expansion is obscene. At some point this house of cards of college football is going to crash on the revenue side and its going to be ugly. UA may be better positioned then most to survive that, but making a CFB stadium a copy of the latest NFL stadiums is a bad look for the integrity of these universities

The very idea of morons playing cornhole inside the stadium instead of watching the actual game just pisses me off.
Like, why are you even there? You can play cornhole for hours before and after the game.
Turning sports stadiums into amusement parks is not really a trend I'm a fan of.

In 20 years I think you'll see it redone, but since we have the best student section in the country, it'll be manageable.

I’m quite flabbergasted they are doing this so soon tbh. BDS was a complete dump until the late 2000’s when they finally enclosed both end zones and got with the times.

Gonna be a lot of haymakers thrown in that picnic area over who gets to stand on the railing. Will be interesting to see.
