I trust that 13 does have some good info with regards to Trooper's past. Unfortunately, I also have been able to get some direct information from people who he has coached with too that disputes it.

So at the end of the day, it is what we thought. Some people really lIke him, and some he really pisses off.

I met him randomnly in the student center and talked with him. He is an awesome guy and extremely nice. He was surprisingly engaged for someone who had better things to be doing considering I'm a nobody. There's a reason everyone likes him

You know I don't flame AU and have been complimentary or most of your staff. Check the history. The only "hating" I do on AU is Trooper directed and it is primarily due to personal interactions with him, and business/personal interactions with others (coaches and a couple of agents) who know him.

He does connect with recruits. He is a great recruiter. I think he's an above average WR coach, but not great. I can't ever see him as an OC at a BCS caliber program, tho.

The high five pissed me off, even if that wasn't his intention. And no, that play wasn't that bad by itself. It was the string of 3-4 plays before that that should have gotten Fairley tossed from the game. The spear to Murray's lower back about 3-4 seconds late was the worst. End rant.

Trooper's obviously a good recruiter. He could stand to be a bit more professional.

Oh I know. I was backing you up with the fact that you are credible, and don't post just to flame.

Definitely don't seem him as a big time OC either. The coaches that I have been able to talk to do say his biggest weakness is his ability to diagnose film & gameplan.

I won't claim I know him really well or anything, but, I have had the opportunity to spend a decent amount of time talking with the guy.

From my experience, he's nothing like what people on the rant want to make him out to be. I found him to be very genuine in everything we talked about. Meeting as many people as I do in my career I think I'm an ok judge of character. Take that however you want. And, although I won't go through the trouble of explaining it to people that already love to hate him, he actually has a very sad yet interesting story as to why he wears his hat backwards. I will say that it has to do with the loss of his father at a young age and not b/c he wants to be thug or whatever.

Auburn fans I know here in TN have a significantly different opinion of him now than when he was with the Vols.

Seems like a fun coach, results indicate a great recruiter (probably because he's a fun coach) and everything I've heard him say indicates he has morals etc. Its understandable he makes opposing teams mad etc because he's so "flashy" and the fact he's the only WR coach in the nation that is talked about as much as he is indicates he's one of the best in the business at what he does.

Troopah is hated by the UGA fanbase, at least, because of his seeming to high five Nick Fairley after all hell began to brake loose in 2010

Thats the most misunderstood thing about that whole deal. Taylor was trying to keep Fairley out of the mix so he wouldnt get his arse thrown out of the game and have to sit out the Bama game. He was talking to Fairley that whole time telling him not to be (stupider).

He's Auburn's best recruiter on staff currently, before I'd say that title went to Roof.

He's very good at getting players mentally pumped and ready to play, he's a decent coach overall at the position. Far better than Greg Knox at that position.

Trooper Taylor? That's a name from the past. He was burned so bad as a DB at Baylor, he had to wear an asbestos jock.

Perfect example of the Peter Principle. Stay around long enough you will move up the ladder.

Usually Baylor grads have worked their way up to assistant manager at Wal-Mart by now.

Trooper Taylor...who would have thought

He has "morals"? Interesting then that T.Reed's mother basically accused him of kidnapping her son away from Thibodaux for a visit to AU. There are very very good reasons why he is now banned at THS. He may well be well liked...by fellow AU people. He fits in best with the mess of AAU basketball, as I am sure everyone there would like him.

Taylor is dirty and not worth the trouble long term.

He also lied to Gabe Wright about Tennessee, although I'm more upset with one of our players backing him up.

What trouble did he cause for UT???? He lied to Gabe Wright about what?

You will really hate him when he brings the Berry Twins to Auburn, they love him.....

Me thinks you need to do more research on Trovon Reed and his mother.

1. He told Gabe Wright he didn't get the Tennessee OC position because of racism.

2. If the twins like whoever will be coaching at Tennessee in 2014, I would bet they both end up in Knoxville.

amonst the other rummors that were speculated by UT fans that were bitter after the fact, but carry on

Was this reported, or message board fodder?

If I remember correctly, most of the message board discussion was about Gerald Jones' role in the situation. But you can be sure it happened.
