UF Fans are some of the only ones I feel have a legit gripe too. Maybe the grinders but them getting a 5* QB is out of the question

For both scenarios I would feel the same about him as I do now:
I don't dislike him on a personal level, I just don't root for him. I don't root for former Auburn players. I'm not hoping they get injured. I'm not hoping they have troubled personal lives. I just want them to lose games on the field at whatever level they're at, be it college, arena, CFL, or NFL.

Just took Cam longer to mature. No hard feelings from me.

Go frick yourself. Aggie openly flaunted breaking the rules by playing Johnny Douchebag after he took money from an autograph broker and your cheating arse still only finished 4th in the western division. A perfect example of why so many people think Aggie sucks and continuously laugh at you

I was paying you a compliment, calm the frick down

You would think that with so many accusations likely being true, an entire army of NCAA investigators who lived in Auburn trying to find out the truth, an HBO team that was sent in to investigate and so many witnesses with supposed recordings sent to the FBI that a shred of evidence would be available to the public by now.

You probably still believe there are enough WMDs in Iraq to make Russia jealous too huh?

Are you honestly going to sit there and try to tell me nothing shady went down with Cam? Really?

I support Auburn and Newton's excellent grind, but dont treat me like I was born yesterday.

There was nothing complimentary about the post I responded to. I really don't care if Cam was paid because most of the people who bitch about it root for cheating teams themselves. However, an Aggie expecting Auburn fans to admit he was paid is laughable considering your own cult fan base usually becomes pretty bitchy or defensive whenever Johnny Douchebag breaking NCAA rules is brought up

As if shady things don't happen at every other major program.

Sure there was, you're just way too defensive to notice it.

I admire the Auburn fans who laugh and DGAF about the cheating. I dont care about teams that cheat.

Yeah, thats just not true. The rant spent months desperately trying to rile us up about that, to which we responded that we know he probably got paid for autographs and we dont care. This infuriated many a poster here.

The rants resident Aggies dont deny he took money, and we dont care.

The fact he got paid didn't really have much to do with how good he was or not.

Dude was just that much better than everyone else and took his talents where they pay the most for them.

Hard-core facts, year-long investigations and complete compliance with those investigations..... proof, means nothing at all. It's what you think that's important, and hearing what you want to hear that counts. I won't even touch on rational, logical thought.

Become one with the hate, it's your friend.

It's a dirty shame that Cam was forced to play under Gus when he really wanted to go to landmass and play for the hump. After all, they offered about $40,000 and some kitchen appliances to get him and were outbid. Life is such a bitch. I can't wait to find out who the bagman was.

I don't believe anything significantly different from any other high profile recruit happened. Unless you suggest that all top talents recruited by AU get 200k, my point is being made.

If people thought Cam had just gotten the "rental cars" and "handshake" cash that goes on, it wouldn't be front page USA Today. Trent Richardsons mom got some "house sitting" job which I have no idea is legit or not and didn't even make tabloid level news despite being Heisman a front runner on NC team.

So, no I do not believe the majority of the accusations made in the ATPB thread are remotely accurate because the majority were accusations above and beyond "normal perceived impropriety. " if something beyond normal was going on it would be near impossible to cover up from so many news outlets, NCAA investigators and people who wanted to see the plains burn

I think Auburn just did a really nice job covering the paper trail. Just too much smoke to believe something fairly significant didnt go down there.

And again, more power to you for it.

Sort of an irrelevant side note, but I got to like Cam after he left college. After rewatching some of his play......its just so fun to watch. I enjoy it more than Manziel's tape. He's just a punisher and he can throw the ball 100 yards and land it right on a grain of salt. Definitely tGOAT.

However, I believe when it came down to it, people hated him ultimately because he was a badass football player. The scandal helped, but I believe more of the hate was really out of his play.

My whole thing about the Cam situation was that there was all this inuendo but no proof that anybody could hang their hat on. And Im an Auburn guy but DAMN, are you people telling me that we are Sooo good at this cheating business that nobody could hang that deal on anybody? National media was on it like a laser beam. Federal authorities, NCAA, everybody and nothing. Really?

frick. Auburn needs to give degrees in cyber spying to the NSA.

I hated him at the time. I think the disappointment of our 2010 season coupled with the shock of auburn's success was tough for most Bama fans. While I still think it's obvious that he got paid, there is no reason to hate him any more than any other players who got paid, including some of ours. Life is too short to be this intense about college football.

To need to take into account that none of us actually know anything. We didn't have a situation like manziel where he admitted to the money etc.

Do I care? No. Cam is a great person and athlete. Those who hate on him about the money thing are hypocrites who cheer for players who are taking money on their own team.

That's where this conversation is now. Auburn fans present pretty easy facts, and everyone else spouts the same old tired one-liners. No...no Auburn fan will tell you that we KNOW he wasn't paid...because we couldn't possibly know that...and most of us were right there with you in assuming it happened when the story first broke...but 4 years later, every national media investigative journal is trying to make a name for themselves with the story, NCAA, HBO, the impossible to have anticipated by criminal mastermind Cecil Newton and the Auburn booster club-involvement of both the FBI and the IRS, and not a single solitary shred of evidence that money was even discussed with Auburn, let alone changed hands.

Sorry, but the facts are WELL on our side of the argument. Troll on with the zingers...but this is over and the facts say he very probably did NOT get paid.
