This may well be the first legitimate discussion involving tBlessed One. Well done GC.
It was going well for a while there...now it looks like it's about to break down into another back and forth.
Personally, I'm just grateful that I don't have the same attitude today that I did back then. It's amazing to me the difference in my reaction to our Iron Bowl loss this year compared to 2010. Nobody should let a game affect them the way some of us did in 2010 (and many do today in other situations).

Look just because the NCAA, HBO, and whatever other news outlets that were there didn't find any evidence doesn't mean it didn't happen. Hell, we have read articles on this very site that spells out just how easy it is to cover the trails of recruiting benefits.
With that being said, I'm of the same school of thought as Mr. Klarvin. More power to y'all for getting him and winning, it's not like other schools aren't doing it.
However, I will leave this alone with one little caveat: I reserve the right to be a tad salty about this for the remainder of my being. I still to this day will claim that State had a better defense and Cam could have more than carried our offense just like Auburn's to a National Title. So forgive me whilst I pout in the corner for a little while.

What gets lost is this discussion is that Newtons father solicited money on his behalf for him to sign at MSU. This indisputable. He should have been declared ineligible.

Yeah there was a tape of that, but that alone couldn't really mean anything because he didn't get anything from us, and it didn't incriminate Auburn either.

That was exactly right. How can they punish another school for something that they weren't even involved in? They couldn't prove that Cam had any knowledge of what Cecil had done and it was between MSU and Cecil, not AU and Cam.

So in accordance to the rule, many Alabama stars should have been ruled ineligible for their careers as well. Are you fine with this?

Whenever AU gets called out for something, the first response is always " Bammer cheats too....."
All Bama all the time

They are punishing the player and not the school. There was no wrong doing found on AU' s part but there was wrongdoing, serious wrong doing, found on Cecil's part as he was acting as agent for his son soliciting pay for play. This is indisputable. Cam Newton' s amateur status should have under the rule been revoked.....which would have made him intelligible prior to the Iron Bowl.

This is where it all originated though. Cam looks like a lock to State. Dad doesn't get money he asks for, Cam promptly signs with Auburn. You have to admit that it looks bad. Not saying it is, but there is some smoke there.

Auburn fans don't get rustled because I'm not trying to start an argument, but he has a very valid point.
Whether money changed hands or not, at that time the rule stated that you could not solicit pay for play. It was pretty clear cut. Then they wanted to say that Cecil did it without Cam's knowledge which is ultimately got around it, but lets be real here.

quote:It is just laughable for bammers to constantly bring up Cam's father soliciting money from Moo State boosters when the NCAA and bammer themselves agree many bammer players have actually accepted improper benefits under Saban and the NCAA has done nothing about it.

This list of players include Marcel Dareus and DJ Fluker taking money from a sports agent, Ha Ha Clinto Dix taking money from an assistant strength coach, and Brandon Gibson taking a recruiting visit to bammer on a private jet owned by a bammer booster

Great talent who was immature when he was in school.

Moo State also had a booster and an assistant coach actually involved in giving money to players post Cam and you only got a slap on the wrist at most out of that case
