They've been to the SEC title game three times, which is admirable.

They lost by double digits every single time though sadly

Its alright though, you made a silly statement that showed your ignorance. No reason to double down.

No one is trying to say that a blue chip kid is going to pick Arkansas over some of the top programs in the country. The reason why isn't because of where the school is located though.

My age interprets it that it looks like some pretty decent football recruits also wanted to go to Baton Rouge,LA.

And some pretty decent basketball players make their way to Lexington, KY.

Its about the coaching and who can put them in the pros.

Having a coach that is respected and wants to be there for a few years will make the Hogs competitive again.

By competitive I mean beating Bama every 3-4 years, beating LSU every 2-3 years and returning to spanking A&M 4 outa 6 times. Ole Miss and State should be tune up games for the Hogs.

When the years line up or the Hogs beat Bama or LSU and their game creates a 3 way tie...Hogs will go to ATL.

Pittboss appears to be the real deal and we have an AD with a pulse. Both basketball and football are trending up, so the only question is how far up.

Briles and Odom are pretty formidable as coordinators...it really will be a shame if they can't play in front of full stadiums which helps a team like Arkansas at home.

Monster, I don’t think it’s incompetence, I think it’s the style of offense they are playing against. They don’t ever see a fullback, QB under center, power run game or true mid range passing game. They see shot with one or two backs, long passes, screens and slants. LBs don’t have to cover TE’s. Backs out of the backfield are usually in the screen game only. The biggest issue is the lack of power running schemes. As a result, they aren’t used to the grind, pound, shedding in blocks and more importantly taking on a block. The runs Trey see are spread option or quick hits. Nothing else. When they get to major college ball, they see a mix of this and mix of pro style offenses. The pro style is what usually gets them, especially the interior guys.

Every Elite Recruit will have his choice of nice Campuses and nice facilities and any Academic Major they want

Big difference between recruiting a regular student and a game changing, possibly Program changing recruit

Once you get past nice facilities, then what does Arky have to offer?

The reason why is Arkansas isn't top level in football and hasn't in the past 30 years. Players will go where the winning is at and eventually to the pros. We have a lot of work to do.

Any of the current SEC programs could have Arkansas success in the SWC except maybe Vandy. Basically they battled A&M to be #2 behind Texas. Rest of the conference was awful

Your writing style and the way you anaylze topics indicates that you aren't in that 18 to 23 age range, therefore, my comment, someone your age

Nobody at Mississippi State gave a shite about football for decades. If they did, we would have claimed a national championship or two in 40-41.

But hey, if those wins Arkansas racked up in the '10s and '20s make you feel better about losing seven out of the last eight to Mississippi State, so be it.

Ok roger that MC all that sounds very plausible thank you for the reply. That’s too bad though because the Big 12 is never going to win an NC until they start mastering defensive fundamental football. Also A&M is going to remain behind LSU, Bama, and AU if they don’t quickly rectify the situation.

The SWC was by no means awful. Teams go in cycles all the time and over the years. Teams such as Rice and SMU were good in the past. Rice use to have great fan support and had one of the largest stadiums in the nation. Texas Tech had good teams and pulled off upsets. Houston had one of the most explosive offenses in college football history. Texas was at one time the team to be in college football. Arkansas and Texas A&M were very consistent and had played an average of 3-5 ranked teams a year depending on the decade.

They were a solid conference and were certainly not awful.

We do have very good fan support, especially when we're winning. You get the whole state to yourself. Hell we're top 25 in the country in attendance despite being awful over the last 5 years. But honestly other than those two things a lot of schools are identical and it depends who the coach is at that particular time.

Eh not really. We haven't won much against them, but we haven't won much against anyone lately lol. We still recruit Texas basically the same as we did before A&M joined the league and despite the fact that we keep losing to them we outrecruit Missouri nearly every year. What fricked us is Petrino's accident and bad hires since.

I lived in Arkansas once upon a time many years ago. There is not nearly enough high school talent in-state to compete at a high level consistently. They always recruited heavily in Texas. Now you have pretty much the entire SEC recruiting heavily in Texas.
