Ticket sales are down because everyone knows they are gonna get embarrassed by The Mississippi State Bulldogs this year.
The original post was based on the national trend and not Ole Miss. But as for that, we have Matt Luke as HC. We are going to be embarrassed by almost everyone.

It's not only that, it's the time. I don't like spending my entire fcking weekend going to a college football game that lasts 4+ hours because of TV. Add in jacked up hotel rooms and I've got better things to do and to spend my money on. I'll still watch the vast majority of the games but if I go to the game it means I am missing others and I'm sure as hell not going to spend an entire weekend to watch Tennessee play Ga State or UTC in person.
This all day long...When you go to a 4 hour game, you have no clue of what is going on in the rest of the college football world. Plus you know a lot more about the game if you are watching on tv then in person.
To stay at decent hotel in Oxford for 2 night minimum you are going to spend over $1,000 a weekend....That sucks right there.

I said EVERYONE... i didn't mention anything about the little school in which you root for. congratulations on Ole Missing and making it about you.
I was also using hyperbole. I thought someone from a liberal arts school would understand hyperbole.

How ironic given your post that encouraged the response.
As for the OP, it’s the combo of prices for everything connected to going to a game. Chances are, if you’re a family going you’re probably coming from out of town. Combine parking, concessions, hotel, food outside of the game, etc. and it quickly becomes unmanageable for a lot of families.

It's just increasingly poor value.
Hotel options almost everywhere in the conference are limited unless you're booking very early. Everyone else is going to overpay for mediocrity, which is annoying for people who have the money to pay those rates (if you're used to traveling nicely, paying 400 a night may not make you wince but for an aging Garden Inn it's annoying).
Same for pro vs. college games. The pricing isn't that different, but for a pro game I get to sit in nice, individual seats, in a stadium with tech that is among the most elite in the world, with a huge number of food and beer vendors. At most college games I get bleachers and little league snack stand nachos.
People continue to do it because they love the schools and towns, but it's becoming harder to justify objectively.

What is your problem? I thought you were joking with me and I was joking back but you're just being a dick now. I'm glad I don't know you in real life. You seem like a miserable person.

What was the shithole hotel in downtown Auburn behind Quixotes? That place was a $40/night joint in the summer and those bastards jacked it up to like $175 w/ a 2 night minimum. We used to bring our own sheets and towels because they were so lousy!

I tried to buy 4 tickets to Auburn Tennessee last season, it was nearly $800. Who is paying that when I can watch from home?

I might've driven my car into Malzahn's house had I spent that much and he put that abortion on the field. I was frickin mad I even wasted a few minutes of my life watching that one.

Vandy is charging $112 for LSU game

Absolutely too high.
But until they struggle to sell them though, prices won't come back down.

Just unload them on Budweiser they'll snatch those up in a heartbeat.

Several years ago the Aggies had scheduled a series with SMU. They played two in College Station and one in Dallas.
The SMU stadium seats 32,000. For the Aggie game they bumped the price up to almost the same as season tickets.
Instead of buying individual game tickets we bought season tickets. I think it set a record for season ticket sales for Ford Stadium in Dallas. They made money but played in front of almost no one for the rest of the year.
Of course no one goes to SMU games anyway.

If Ole Miss charges more than 50 cents for entry to the grove and a game is robbery.

Stub hub for almost any game is a fraction of face IF you wait long enough.
I used to have season tickets. The moved me from the shade to the sun. I did not renew. I have saved lots of money and time by not attending every game.
I do have 4 SEC championship game subscriber tickets. I sell 2 and go every year.

Are ticket prices too high?
Multiple factors...
Ticket prices going up much faster than real wages
Rent a wins nobody wants to see
Corporate seating over family seating
DONATIONS, DONATIONS, and more DONATIONS added cost to tickets
Prices of supplemental revenue like parking and concessions
Too much light and sound
AD's and staff who have no real clue how much they have crapped up the experience for average fans
