Are there any stadium experiences that have IMPROVED in the last 10 years?
Posted by Tiger1242

Probably if your team has gotten a lot better, you have more fun in the stadium. Otherwise it seems like every fan, regardless of team that I talked to feels like the atmosphere has gotten worse at their stadium. Is this the general consensus?

Lots of piped in music.
Outrageously expensive concessions.
More TV timeouts and less gameplay.
I don't think anyone likes any of these.

I feel like it’s a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy, too. The atmosphere isn’t as good, so the fans don’t go or leave the stadium early. The fans don’t go or they leave the stadium early, and the atmosphere isn’t as good…

The piped-in music at Bryant-Denny has become so nonstop and deafeningly loud that it detracts from the experience. Why have a band? They sound tinny and small in comparison. Why cheer loudly? Even the crowd sounds small compared to the jet engine-level music being cranked out of the speakers between every play. And if you don't like hip hop, then frick you, apparently. The only non-hip hop songs that will ever be played are "Sweet Home Alabama," "Friends in Low Places," and "Dixieland Delight."

The atmosphere has gotten much better at Williams Brice quite honestly. The light show has had a big impact.

Texas by default. shite teams, blue hairs/country clubbers & apathy until they gave it a makeover and the new AD worked on the game day atmosphere.

my BIL said yall's AD has done a great job of getting rid of a bunch let's honor longhorn legend yada yada stuff that just kills momentum.
it's long been a complaint of mine at Kyle Field that we do way too many moments of honor. sucks the energy right out of the stadium.

AU fans have complaints about the Jumbotron and aging stadium, but Jordan-Hare is still rocking. The crowd generally stays engaged. My favorite new event on the Jumbotron is the "face masked singer."

Yeah I lived in Austin for awhile and DKR circa 2013 or so was like a bad NFL game experience. Definitely a good bit better now, went for KState in 2017 and that was good, LSU 2019 also much better. Still not quite a heavy hitter but not awful any longer.

They upgraded the urinal troughs at Commonwealth stadium to accommodate beer sales.

A&M games…
Lots of piped in music- yep- A&M fault.
Concessions at A&M really aren’t bad. Obvious we aren’t relying on these sales to help cover Jimbo contract.
Lots of long commercial breaks- yep but that is shitty TV imposed shite.
Game times in hottest part of day- yep too often. Once again TV imposed shite.
Cheesy commercials- yep.

Overall atmosphere is about the same. Beer lines are too damn long.
The little sports bar thing they did on top of the NEZ is kinda cool. If you can get in. Very quick getting beers there and you have TVs to watch other games, and shade and fans to keep cool.
Tailgating has improved somewhat, as now every hillside near the stadium is full of tents. It is still chopped up, but they are at least using all available real estate in stead of keeping people off it.

TV timeouts and corporate seats.
This year we're seeing more than 10% less game time but the same exact run times.. Soo that means people are just sitting, dead air, in the stadium.

I don't understand why y'all play 11AM/noon games before November. I can understand apathy in that kind of heat.

It’s always going to feel like an NFL environment due to the corporate $ & limited tailgating options. Winning & having programs like Georgia & Florida coming out is already helping a lot though.
