When things seem to be going well is when KDB usually shits the bed.

48-28

It often times looks like we are getting our asses kicked on defense, but it doesn't often show on the scoreboard.

It's just the way our defense operates. It's hard for me to adjust to being a fan to be honest. It feels so bad in games. But we try to create negative plays and end drives with them.

It only takes 1 series to end a drive. An offense can get 30-40 yards every drive and then get a negative play or 2 and that ends things.

People like to cite the FSU game and I get it. We weren't getting home and they got some explosive plays. But even then they were only scoring 1 TD a quarter with the 1 extra early in the game.

Against Kentucky, the defense only gave up 10 points. 18 against USC.

Overall I think Alabama should win if we score at least 30 and for sure if we score at least 40.

Those aren’t adjusted numbers.

With only four games on the books when you allow 50 to Bama it’s gonna mess up your defensive statistics pretty badly.

Bama vs USCe: 489 yards for / 419 allowed, 49-18
MSU vs USCe: 393 yards for, 431 allowed, 41-34

You were outgained by 40 yards when Bama outgained them by 70 despite shutting it down in the 3Q.

You won by 7, Bama throttled them by 31 and the game was over before halftime.

Yall are one of the best offenses in CFB this year but let’s not act like we don’t already have a direct data point to compare the two teams against.

The rain could be a major wildcard though if it limits the vertical passing game for both teams.

It’s just downstream of playing zone defense and giving up yards until we get a turnover or sack. Otherwise they hit the red zone and their offense doesn’t usually doesn’t function as well with shorter fields to shrink the zone spacing.

And that RZ efficiency has always been a concern with the veer that Heupel/Lebby/Golesh all run when playing high end defenses.

MSU has the QB to run it perfectly though so I expect them to put up lots of yards, the game will probably be decided on whether they can protect him from the Bama pass rush and convert in the RZ.

Both teams rely heavily on the pass, with MSU having the advantage at QB but bama with the better OL. Rainy game at 11 am will slow both offenses but state has the #2 rusher in the SEC in Fluff Bothwell. Rain and home advantage plus early game favors State. Bama starts slow, State takes early lead. Bama climbs back but State holds on late to win.

Isaac Smith will play, our best DB.

State finna grind out a win. 31-27 Grinders

Could happen but I’m going with history. I think Alabama pulls out a close one. Could be wrong

Let's check opponent adjusted stats.

Miss St:

#136 UL Monroe - #124 Offense, #136 Defense
#52 Minnesota - #71 Offense, #42 Defense
#33 USC - #42 Offense, #28 Defense
#34 Missouri - #53 Offense #15 Defense

Alabama
#73 ECU - #95 Offense, #46 Defense
#35 Kentucky - #55 Offense, #20 Defense
#38 FSU - #18 Offense, #77 Defense
#33 USC - #42 Offense, #28 Defense

It's about the same.

Kentucky's DFEI is .39 and Missouri's is .41. They both share USC (.30) and Alabama has the edge in the last 2, but it's not like those are actually significant.

As for the 2 teams:

#5 Alabama - #6 Offense, #10 Defense
#22 Miss St - #11 Offense, #39 Defense

So you'll be the best offense Alabama has faced, but not defensively.

It’s going to be the most watched MSU game in years.
Alabama will find out if they have a decent defense so will State.

I imagine there will be a few blunders. Who makes the worst one loses.

Go State!

It will be a classic Bama game where Mississippi state scores a time or 2 early, Bama responds on O then gets a defensive score and it’s over

Mississippi State and South Carolina are basically the same tier, so we should have little to no issue dominating them.

Kamario Taylor is a great QB, but that's all MSU has. The rest of the team is pedestrian.

This will be a great week to get our secondary tuned up before we face Georgia in a true heavyweight fight.

I think it comes down to Bama’s lines being better than ours. Bama can give up explosive plays but I will die on the hill that both of our lines did not get the upgrade we needed to be successful against good teams.
If Arnett can scheme up a plan to give us a puncher’s chance, I will be pleased.
I’ve got Bama 37-29.

Miss St - 32
Bama - 30

Goal posts get torn down and the parents of the Miss St players go on a drunken robbery spree.
