Makes sense. Two highly ranked teams, first year head coach following a legend vs. Kirby, etc. It had all the hallmarks.

The fracturing of the media audience really redefined "huge".

Imo, it would have been a lot higher had the game not been a blowout at the half. I know a lot that turned it off.

Then again, I don't know how they measure the numbers. Maybe that is 1st half viewers.. or peak viewers.

This years “game of the century” in CFB = a pitiful NFL game rating. Amazing how dominant the League is at the moment.

It helps when there are only two NFL games airing on national television at a time.

If Georgia had won that game we would surely beat those numbers when they come to ATX in a few weeks. I think we'll still get a fair number of eyeballs, just not as many.

Ehhh it’s do or die for the dawgs now. Should be a lot of eyes on it. Now that we know ole miss are frauds Texas is the only threat. Maybe Tennessee but I bet they fall apart late in the season like they tend to do.

Also helps its a night premiere game and not at 2:30 when people are still out doing things on a Saturday afternoon.

Aside from Atlanta, the NFL is far more popular than college football in all of the major metro areas across the country. No surprise that pro games pull higher ratings.

"While the result of Saturday's game was certainly not what Bulldog fans had hoped for, viewership numbers indicate that Georgia and Alabama are the premier programs in the sport of college football."
