Some of the posts in that thread are really funny now.
It’s wild. This is one of the best bumps ever. I know we all get defensive on here about our schools from time to time but the level of defensiveness of the LSU fans there is off the charts, considering it wasn’t some earth-shattering, major accusation.
I like this one from cas4t.

Wait you mean WW wears purple? Holy frick, that’s crazy quote Let’s be clear. You want to see him in that picture. Unless you have superhuman abilities, you can’t definitively say you see WW in that pic.
Lots of scared in this thread. Lots.

Lets see Alabama make a Final Four sometime and then tell us how meaningless that is
It's absolutely meaningless.

Winning titles matters. Coming in 4th place doesn't.
Washington made it to the CFP as the 4 seed a few years ago. You think their fans will be bragging about it 16 years from now? Hell no.

This past thread is pretty crazy considering what has now transpired. I am am LSU fan also. Just more realistic then some on this board.

I think it was obvious why any major recruit including Watford went to LSU and it wasn’t because of Wades coaching ability

IMO that crap shouldn't have even made it on the NOA list, that's tick tacky crap and LSU reported it appropriately.
quote:My bad! I assumed something this trivial would've been easily reported.
Per the NCAA it wasn't self reported at all. Wade and Armstrong never told LSU compliance and LSU compliance only heard about it "through the NCAA", meaning it wasn't self reported. It was ignored or covered up by Wade/Armstrong. If they'd told LSU compliance and LSU compliance had reported it, it wouldn't have ended up here. That's the point, I'm guessing.

Those quotes are pure comedy gold.

Thanks SOG.
I think I should start an ***OFFICIAL*** apologize to AHM thread. Many in that thread talked shite and thought I was wrong. Turns out I knew more about LSU committing NCAA violations than LSU did. Their fans owe me an apology, for sure.
Especially Willy Bandwagon.

Remember when Saban went to Manning’s game a few weeks or whatever ago? Is that a level I violation too? And if not, why not?
I don’t understand how it can be a violation if a kid and/or his family show up at a popular restaurant and a coach and long time family friend happen to already be there, acknowledging their presence and talking is a violation? That’s so lame.

You honestly don't see the difference in these 2?

To me this means crimson boz should relinquish his admin duties to AHM21.

Tell me you don't know much about recruiting rules without telling me you don't know much about recruiting rules.
There are rules that govern when and what type of contact coaches can have with recruits. Going to watch a recruit play a game and not meeting with him and his family face-to-face is not the same as having lunch with a player and his family off campus after a recruit plays a game.
To answer your question, just go to the rule cited in the allegation (13.1.2.1)
quote:
In-person contact shall not be made with a prospective student-athlete or the prospective student athlete’s family members during a day of the prospective student-athlete’s competition (e.g., before and after the competition).
Will Wade and an assistant on his staff met with Watford and his family the same day Watford played a game. That is a recruiting violation. That violation, alone, is not a huge deal but it's still a violation. Had he just gone to watch the game, there would have been nothing wrong with that. Teams have self-reported benign violations such as saying hey as a recruit walks by at a game because you're not supposed to talk to them on days of games. Another issue is Wade didn't self-report a thing.

I can see the difference in what I wrote bc I didn’t have time to write exactly what I was meaning, but my overall point was to try and show how ridiculous and petty that allegation is…
I mean think abt it; imagine if while Saban was at that game, Peyton and/or Cooper had come and conversed with him and chatted him up all game etc… most normal people would say it was just two dudes talking football or whatever and think nothing of it. (Which is how it should be) but technically its a violation and similar to what happened with Watford..
What if a lsu fan had taken a pic and sent it to the NCAA, just like this, then without any evidence or proof that recruiting or money or anything was being discussed, bam it gets included in an NOA as a level 1 vio.
It’s a little ridiculous if you really think abt it. Watford’s mom and brother talking to a former coach who they have known all their life, without any evidence of what the convo was about; is a level 1 violation?? It’s crazy. It’s like when the cops have nothing on you but you’ve been a smartass the entire interaction so they decide to arrest you and charge you with the all encompassing charge of “disturbing the peace”…

It was the same day of Watford championship game. Talked to his mom and bro Christian bc fricken Armstrong has known this family for years… I mean come on

There was nothing to the conversation I’m sure, just old friends catching up. So why not self report it to LSU compliance and leave it at that.

Saban and U of A would have reported it and it would be a minor violation. When LSU and Wade didn’t report it and the NCAA had to tell them it was a bigger violation.
