I promise you the kansas band wasn't playing Thanks For The Memories

That was done to mock us, not to actually "thank us for the memories"...and who really gives a frick about Kansas/Missouri (football-wise) outside of KCMO?

I do remember the stories about how "classy" it was and how even after all the issues, "we're all Texan."

To answer your other question, it depends on how good the teams are. Doesn't frequently happen that we're both good at the same time.

When it does, Game Day comes to enjoy the rivalry.

This has gone on a tangent. I'd like to play kansas on thanksgiving weekend until that spot is taken by Arkansas.

Then we'll either not play, or play on our terms.

Always check the source. If it came from a media outlet in the state of Texas, ALWAYS assume it's pro-horn.

sorry but saying "screw them, they're struggling, we dont need to help them" is chest thumping my man.

they really dont "need" us for their scheduling.

they are doing fine lining up decent enough OOC games.

I'd rather play tu. I'm thrilled we joined the SEC but watching Horns v Ags on Turkey day is how I've spent everything Thanksgiving break of my life save this last one.

frick that shite. Had a chance to keep the rivalry OOC and they acted like little bitches. Let 'em grovel back to A&M and we MIGHT consider allowing them the privilege of playing with the big boys. But never again on Thanksgiving. Give me the Gulf War with LSU.

That's not what I said (i.e., If-then statement); but absolutely, screw them--not b/c they're struggling, but b/c they're reaping what they've sown. It has nothing to do with "helping" them--I never stated we'd be helping them by jumping back into that mess. But we tried to keep the [dysfunctional] relationship together. They made it very publicly clear that they weren't interested.

I think it's now become a PR thing for them; and ameliorating the multiple black clouds hanging over the 40 Acres would be the sole reason they'd be interested in extending an olive branch.

We disagree. I get that.

I'm not for playing the horns or LSU on Turkey Day. I prefer the Saturday after. Let the pros have Thanksgiving. Actually kind of happy this year with no home game on Turkey weekend. I can sleep off my T-Day hangover on Friday and can be in the deer stand or flounder fishing Friday pm and Saturday am before the A&M/Mizz and LSU/Arky games in the afternoon.

I did kind of like the Black Friday game we've had in the past, but I don't like college games on Turkey Day

Hopefully finishing the year with A&M will finally give us a "real" rival

sorry, I knew it might come off like that and was too lazy to explain that I mean your screw them attitude as well as the many others who say things like "Let 'em grovel back to A&M and we MIGHT consider allowing them the privilege of playing with the big boys. "

or the ones who argue they need us more now for their home schedule etc.

I feel its very similar to the mentality people have who cry about potentially playing Tech b/c we shouldn't legitimize them or help them in any way unless they give us a 2-1 series. That shite is ridiculous.

regardless, its going to come back. Its too big of a tradition, for the state and schools, to not.

The process of bringing it back will start as soon as Dodds is gone.

I'm fine with that b/c he is going to be gone sooner than later.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one, then I understand the reasons some don't like Thanksgiving Day games. I prefer it on turkey day for my own set of reasons.

Regardless, I'll take LSU on T-Day, +1, or +2 over t.u.

As an older aggie, I am torn.. Many years of hate, but I look at the Gators and FSU as an example of what has happened for us in this state, and I like it.

F them.

I'm not opposed to playing the Longhorns again at some point, but not on turkey day. That should be a conference rival, which our closest oppponent to a "conference rivalry" appears to be LSU.

You don't get to make LSU fans change their football watching habits just because your wife makes you hold her shopping bags on Black Friday.

I really enjoyed this post. Also agree with your last point, though I think it's just as open and shut with the Border War winning over immediately.
